In 3026 Takashi Kurita ordered the creation of a BattleMech unit trained in the tactics of the Wolf's Dragoons mercenary unit. Takashi later ordered that the Ryuken split into several companies and each was to expand to regimental size. The Ryuken-ichi, or Ryuken One (First Ryuken) was the first of these units formed.

History[edit]

Origin[edit]

Ryuken-ichi was the first Ryuken regiment created, based on the Dragoons base of An Ting. However, the unit's founder, Minobu Tetsuhara soon was replaced at his command by Jerry Akuma, obsessed with destroy Wolf's Dragoons and using the unit for his own purposes. Akuma was so unpopular that most of the best soldiers left the unit, transfering to Ryuken-ni, which left the Ichi mainly composed by green soldiers.[1][2]

An Ting[edit]

On 3028, after open conflict began between the Combinea nd the Dragoons, Akuma sent the regiment to attack the Dragoons' bases prior to the Battle of Misery. He didn't even bother to lead the unit on the field, delegating the task on Sho-sa Andrew Subato Chou. The assault became a slaughter when the Dragoons stopped them, and for about a week and half, the mercenaries began destroying the Ichi piece to piece. Chou was killed in combat and his unit nearly annihilated. The remaining survivors were unable to prevent the Dragoons' evacuation offplanet.[3]

Disolution[edit]

All Ryuken regiments were later gathered to Misery, though it is uknown if what remained of the Ryuken-Ichi was sent there.[4] Unlike the other Ryuken regiments, Ryuken-ichi was never rebuilt after the Battle of Misery. Theodore Kurita struck the unit from the rolls, and the Second Ryuken (Ryuken-ni) became the lead regiment of the brigade. At the late Dark Age Era, the unit had yet to be rebuilt.[5][6]
