Timothy Gothic was one of the first farmers on Venus.
History[edit]
When colonists first started arriving on Venus in the first half of the twenty-third century, most were concerned about mining, thinking the planet's main resource would be its minerals. Timothy Gothic, however, discovered in 2245 that the planet's surface, thick with chemicals, could be made into an excellent fertilizer.[1] He and his friends imported soil from Terra and set up the first farm on Venus. It was an instant success that changed the perception of Venus' potential. When a way to make artificial soil was developed on Venus, ships laid down layers of artificial dirt over large areas of the planet's surface. Venus became humanity's breadbasket, producing enough food to feed Terra, Mars, and even the struggling colonies outside the system.[2]
