- An argument has been made that "the 9th Circuit doesn't determine what's canon". No one said it did. It DOES determine who owns copyright regarding material that no one contemporary to its publication said was anything but canon. So, it was canon and then it was partially overwritten in the same way as the original House sourcebooks. Overwriting it entirely is illegal because neither Topps nor any licensee owns the copyrights to certain specific contributions to the Battletech property.
