The Vindicators hated the fact that Mandrinn [[Tormano Liao]] forced them to play second fiddle to the Lancers. After a training accident involving a Lancer 'Mech (later determined to be sabotage), the Vindicators engaged in outright combat with their rival unit. Despite inferior numbers, the Lancers held out, and after several hours the Vindicators broke and ran. The Vindicators' 4th battalion, among other elements of the Vindicators, were left behind and surrendered to the Lancers.
