MechWarrior van Belkum was a fearless and skilled Mongoose warrior who frequently challenged opponents in 'Mechs much heavier than his own Coyotl OmniMech. While van Belkum varied his payload depending on the trial, his favorite tactic was to use a large energy weapon in conjunction with multiple inferno-loaded SRM tubes. Using these weapons, he would charge directly towards an opponent before unloading all of his weapons at once.[1]
Rudolph van Belkum's overconfidence and reckless actions would backfire when his 'Mech's stockpiled inferno ammunition was destroyed in battle and the resulting explosion left his 'Mech disabled and his life forfeit. The third time van Balkum fought rival warrior Gertrude Dana'La, she fired a dozen of her own inferno missiles during Rudolph's rush which detonated his ammunition supplies, crippled his 'Mech, and left him entirely helpless while she killed him.[1]
