Tran dropped the First FedCom on Ogawa, a spaceport city some fifty kilometers south of the Rangers' drop zone, but was so confident of the superiority of the First that she failed to secure the landing zone first. The local militia, which had a ferocious reputation, launched an immediate counterattack as the troops from the First were unloading, and it took five days for the First to finally secure Ogawa Port in the face of conventional and unconventional attacks, including suicide attacks using vehicle-borne explosives. The First lost eight [[BattleMech]]s, as well as more than two companies of armored vehicles and two hundred infantry troopers during those five days, and Tran was recalled to [[Errai]]; de Greer, currently a [[Leftenant General]], was given a field promotion to command the entire of the First,<ref name="H:WO3039p37"/> and would continue to do so as a substantive Marshal for almost two decades, until [[3057]].<ref name=20Yp24/><ref name=ORp17/>
