Trondheim III is a world cursed with furious volcanic activity.  However, this has led to various, easily accessible mineral deposits that can be exploited.  There were also large snow covered mountain ranges.<ref name=TC/>  Once the Clans arrived and occupied Trondheim, those Clanners who resided on the planet rejected the previously held Clan custom that the worlds of the Inner Sphere were all paradises.  Trondheim has four satellites: Strinda, Leinstrand, Byneset, and Tiller. The capital city is named Misby Flats, and is located on the Fosen continent. Colonists from the Federal Democratic Republics of Finland, Norway and Sweden emigrated in significant numbers after the end of the War Damage Tax payments levied on them as a part of the international rebuilding effort following the [[Second Soviet Civil War]]. Choosing a world far from Terra and the oppressive bureaucracy that went with it, the first colonists left in the mid-[[twenty-third century]] and within sixty years had settled [[Rasalhague]] and eight other nearby worlds<ref name="20YUp44"/> including Trondheim.<ref name="HB:HKp18"/> In the late twenty-third century these worlds created a joint government to oversee the development of the worlds, creating the Rasalhague Consortium. Contact with other interstellar nations led to the Consortium evolving into the short-lived Principality of Rasalhague, prior to the Principality being conquered by the Draconis Combine in the early to mid [[twenty-fourth century]].<ref name="20YUp44">''20 Year Update'', p. 44: "Origins"</ref>

====Early Succession Wars====
In [[2825]], Trondheim would come under attack by the mysterious Minnesota Tribe, which defeated the Twentieth Rasalhague Regulars who were tasked with defending the system. The Minnesota Tribe defeated the unit, took the supplies that they needed, before leaving the system. The Tribe refused all communications and individual MechWarriors committed suicide rather than be captured by the Draconis Combine.

====Third Succession War====
In [[3022]], several volcanoes on the surface of Trondheim began erupting, putting massive amounts of ash into the atmosphere. This affected the amount of sunlight reaching the world's surface, and as a consequence, affected the world's ecology. Fortunately the active geology allowed easy access to the precious metals and rare minerals in the planet's crust.<ref name=HK190/>

By [[3025]], the people of Trondheim seemed to be as volatile as the world they inhabit. Over the centuries, they had participated in many protests, rebellions, and attempted revolutions, with most of them requiring the [[DCMS|Arm of the Dragon]] to put down. Though in 3025 the people of the planet were quiet, this did not reduce the size of the contingent of [[ISF]] agents on the planet.<ref name=HKDCp190>''House Kurita (The Draconis Combine)'', p. 190: "Trondheim"</ref>

====Ronin War====
In March [[3034]], immediately after the Declaration of Freedom that announced the creation of the Free Rasalhague Republic, the [[Twenty-fifth Rasalhague Regulars]] attacked the [[Second An Ting Legion]] in their barracks. ''[[Tai-sho (rank)|Tai-sho]]'' [[Uchi Tikidomo]], the commander of the Twenty-fifth, had led his unit to believe that the Second had orders to arrest them and bring them to [[Pesht]] for trial. Tikidomo also sent in an infantry team into the Federal Quarter of Misby Flats, the planetary capital, where they detonated an explosive in the basement of the Parliament. The resulting destruction killed most of the legal planetary government.

With the legal government members either killed or on the run and the Second An Ting Legion heavily damaged and retreating from the city, Uchi Tikidomo set him and his unit up as the legal government of Trondheim. He set up military tribunal, set up curfews and began executing what he called "Rasalhague Rebels"—the duly elected planetary leaders and anyone who resisted his control. These were the first major atrocities of the [[Ronin War]].

Two days later, the regrouped Second An Ting Legion attacked the planetary capital to break the Regulars hold on it.  However, the Twenty-fifth had set up artillery positions and did not care about collateral damage to the civilian population. The Legion's attack was broken and they had to withdraw while asking for reinforcements from off world.

The resulting civilian losses from the artillery plus the brutal executions conducted by the Regulars drove the populace to join the Trondheim militia. Smuggled broadcasts of the devastation helped fuel the Rasalhague citizens' resistance to the rebels across many worlds. It also convinced [[Haakon Magnusson]] to directly call the Draconis Combine for assistance in the fight against the rebels.<ref name=HBWp105>''Historical: Brush Wars'', p. 105: "Trondheim"</ref>

In mid-May 3034, the mercenary unit [[Dragon's Breath (Mercenary Command)|Dragon's Breath]] arrived on Trondheim to assist the An Ting Legion.  The An Ting Legion then set itself up as a decoy to lure the Twenty-fifth Rasalhague Regulars out of the city. ''Tai-sho'' Uchi Tikidomo, drunk with power, ordered his unit to attack the Legion only to have them fall prey to the newly arrived mercenaries.  After defeating the Twenty-fifth, the Dragon's Breath attacked the remaining rebels in the city.  However, their inexperience in urban combat allowed the remaining Twenty-fifth units to drive them out while also doing significant damage to the city.  When the remaining elements of the Twenty-fifth pursued the mercenaries they ran into the now closing Second An Ting Legion, surrendering when Uchi Tikidomo was killed in combat.<ref name=HBWp107>''Historical: Brush Wars'', p. 107: "Trondheim"</ref>

====Clan Invasion====
Trondheim was conquered by [[Clan Ghost Bear]] in May of [[3050]], one of three targets taken in by the Ghost Bears during the second wave of [[Operation REVIVAL]].  The planetary garrison, the Trondheim Freedom Defenders, was a mixed combined-arms force of two mechanized infantry [[regiment]]s, an aerospace [[Wing (Military Unit)|wing]], two heavy armor [[battalion]]s and a company of [[BattleMechs]].  Against this force the [[3rd Bear Guards (Clan Ghost Bear)|Third Bear Guards]] deployed their Twelfth Battle [[Trinary]], Third-fourth Fighter [[Binary]] and Trinary Command units.  A mobile campaign fought across most of the planet's largest continents was waged in the battle for control of Trondheim, beginning first on the Lava Web, a flat plain of lava whose top crust varies in thickness.  The defenders managed to lure a [[Star]] of heavy Ghost Bear [[OmniMechs]] onto this plain, where their weight caused them to crash through the crust and sink into the lava below.  The rest of the battle was spent as the avenging Clan forces chased the defenders through the open fields of Millargro to the crowded streets of Misby Flats, where the defenders were finally pinned down and destroyed.<ref>''Invading Clans'', p. 32</ref>

====The First Clawing Ritual in the Inner Sphere====
In March [[3057]], the [[JumpShip]] ''[[Bear's Bargain]]'' suffered a drive failure in-system and forced its accompanying [[DropShip]]s to land on Trondheim while it awaited repairs.  During landing operations, the DropShip ''[[Polar Star]]'' veered off course and crashed with no survivors — no human survivors.  The ''Polar Star'' was carrying several [[Ghost Bear (species)|Ghost Bear]]s en route to delivery to [[Alshain]] and at least one of them survived the crash.  Reports later of a large predator attacking the native [[tuktu]] herds were initially dismissed.  However, when local citizens were attacked and described a ''Tonrar Nanuq'' or "devil polar bear" before they died, the Clan Ghost Bear garrison decided to take action.<ref name=TC/>

News of the animal's attacks were kept from the greater public to avoid angering the already hostile population.  To the end, [[Khan]] [[Bjorn Jorgensson]] decided to allow for a modified [[Clawing Ritual]] to be conducted to kill the Ghost Bear.  In October the same year, six Clan Ghost Bear Warriors were selected to hunt the animal with one local [[Trondheim Ranger]] accompanying them to act as a guide and translator in the unknown territory of the Chugach Mountain Range.  After several days of tracking the animal, the party was able to kill it in the village of Nasirvik.<ref name=TC/>

====Clan Diamond Shark Garrison Established====
On 16 July [[3065]], [[Clan Diamond Shark]] established a garrison on Trondheim as part of their plan to set up trading posts in the Clans' [[Inner Sphere]] [[Occupation Zone|Occupation Zones]].
