Temperance MacCaulay was a mercenary MechWarrior who operated in the anti-spinward and rimward Periphery who became an almost legendary figure in the region.[1]

History

Early life

MacCaulay grew up on a newly founded independent mining colony named Tumbleweed by the residents. As soon as she was old enough she started helping out with repairs to the IndustrialMechs, later progressing to piloting them.

In 2960, a band of pirates from the Tortuga Dominions stumbled across the colony and conducted a raid.[1]

Gray Lady

Once MacCaulay was old enough she would leave Tumbleweed and travel to Illyria the capital world of the Illyrian Palatinate where she became the tech for local arena fighter Ty Falco. In 2970, Falco lost his nerve and backed out of a deathmatch, offering MacCaulay ownership of his 'Mech Gray Lady if she would take his place in the match. she accepted and managed to knock her opponent's engine out more through blind luck than skill.[1]

Militia and Mercenary Service

First joining the Illyrian Militia for a few years until she became bored, Temper would become a mercenary and see service with Interstellar Expeditions, the Far-Lookers, and the Lothian League, even joining Arms of Thor.

Eventually in 3026, she ended up working with Lostech prospector Lyle Steadman searching for Star League facilities.[1]

Retirement

MacCaulay eventually retired to Luxen where she would live to become the oldest "Errant" in the Periphery at over 120 years old.[1]

BattleMech

MacCaulay piloted a Centurion from 2970 until her contract with Steadman, some time after the Fourth Succession War. Afterward she sold "Gray Lady" purchased an unknown upgraded 'Mech which she named "Lady Day".

Notes

  • MacCaulay's BattleMech is not explicitly stated in the short story to be a Centurion, however, the illustration within the story shows her working on a Centurion with "Gray Lady" painted on the side of the cockpit.
