The Silver Bullet Gauss has been Level 3 or Experimental rules from its introduction, not certain what the 3051 & 3080 dates mean.  was the 3080 date when it dropped from experimental rules to Advanced Rules? --Cameron (talk) 22:24, 17 August 2014 (PDT)

:The dates are taken from page 207 of Technical Readout: Prototypes, as indicated by the reference in the article. According to the explanatory detail given on page 204, the table on page 207 contains a number of columns explaining the technical history of the listed items. The "Previous Class" column shows whether an item was Advanced or Experimental when first introduced (as per Tactical Operations), and the date at which the prototypes were appearing - in this case, the Silver Bullet Gauss was introduced as an Experimental-level item in the rules and prototyped from 3051 onwards. The next two columns show the change in class of the weapon, if any, as time advanced, and the date it entered mainstream manufacturing at that new rules level. In the case of the Silver Bullet Gauss, the new class is given as "TL" - Tournament Legal - with effect from the date given, which was 3080. A lot of equipment became more available as the Jihad and Dark Age went on, so a fair number of items have gone from Advanced to Tournament Legal or Experimental to Advanced, with a small number going straight from Experimental to Tournament Legal. The detail was included in TRO:P by Catalyst as a means of showing tech progression as the timeline advanced. Does that help?
