Rewrite 3/29/08

I have gone over the article and I have rewritten it. I did the math using the engines size to estimate speed as well as rewrote the information as much as I could based on the information I could hunt down from the box about the configurations.

One ection of the article I removed and wanted to find out more about it before we re-explored this route is as follows:

"As part of an experimental project, only a few selected MechWarriors could test this 'Mech. It is also notable, as a secret project, most of those MechWarriors are some of the research scientist's children or family and some also received training since their very childhood, since this 'Mech is unlikely to everything that have been made since the BattleMech history."

No where in any of the linked articles did it include this information. I dont have the box set itself just the info off the box for he variants. If there is a soucre fo the above info I woudl appreciate it being listed before we list this otherwise it is more less conjecture.

Sorry about typos, its 4 am here.CJKeys 02:54, 29 March 2008 (CDT)

Once again removed "As part of an experimental project, only a few selected MechWarriors can operate this 'Mech. It is also notable, as a secret project, most of those MechWarriors are some of the research scientist's children or family and some also received training since their very childhood."

Please provide a source for this. CJ 10:43, 30 March 2008 (CDT)

I noticed you removed this section. If you had the Rhodes Project Ares MechWarrior card you could read this on those. I personaly own all existing Ares with respective MechWarriors so please don't remove on the fly this mention.

You would also be able to read the indicated speed if you had those Ares' boxes. Indeed boxs' back contain a lot of information about those machines. My sources all come from Ares boxes, cards given with Ares and specified links.--FIVE-one 11:59, 13 April 2008 (CDT)

feasability discussion

Interesting to say the least. BattleMech technology does progress after all. A few things though. Does the Ares, being specifically made for DA, even have compatible CBT stats? A 375 XL engine that gives a maximum speed of only 10 km/h is unheard of. That is a running speed of 1 in the game. That makes it a deathtrap, even the old Atlas can get up to 50 km/h. Following the rules it means the 'Mech is more than 375 tons in mass. Or maybe tripods have a speed modifier of some sort. Is there any more data on the Ares? Manufacturer, BV, and the like?

I know WizKids have been designing 'Mechs that don't follow CBT construction rules, but this is a bit of a jump. Haruspex 06:22, 13 January 2008 (CST)

No, there are no comparable stats. I would assume it uses some form of experimental technology, as it is actually 135 tons. Don't even bother trying to think about it. It would be nice if one of the new, forthcoming books like Tactical Operations has stats for these things, but I wouldn't count on it. --Scaletail 07:44, 13 January 2008 (CST)
I'd say this 'Mech uses level 3 (or even level 4) rules. It's only a prototype 'Mech (only 4 'Mechs have been seen) and is still a project (Rhodes Project). From my experience, I recognize it's a really slow behemoth, but you must know, in MW:AoD, one turn is equal to 6 CBT turns. It's standard speed, in AoD, is 4 (8 by running, with a special pilot) and a larger heat dial (a 'Mech usually show 6 clicks, with always one showing an automatic shutdown. The Ares has 8 clicks.). It also use some level 3 weapons (MRMs if I'm not wrong) and TSEMP. This 'Mechs has unfortunately not any BV nor specific adaptation rules, as it has been conceived for AoD only but the package-box delivers a good amount of informationz on it like its weight, that is 135 tons, not 375. I would also admit the idea the last leg allow it a speed modifier. I wrote this article and I put every data I had on it, that is to say everything that has been told on it by Wizkids. --FIVE-one 13:02, 15 January 2008 (CST)

Image

I saw the image I put has been removed, and replaced by an inexistant Ares image, made in brick (thanks to BrickCommander for their great work). Since this version of this Ares does not exist, I'd replace it by the picture of one of the four existing figure. --FIVE-one 12:49, 20 January 2008 (CST)

I edited the picture to show the best Ares of all : the Poseidon. I removed the ancient one as it does not exist as a cannon source and is only a Brick Commander picture that does not exists in the Battletech Universe.(a Stormhammer Ares... what a joke ! --FIVE-one 13:34, 4 February 2008 (CST)
