Description
Sponson turrets are experimental pieces of equipment that are available to both combat vehicles and support vehicles. Often though not always mounted in pairs with one on either side of a vehicle, the sponsons allow for the placement of even larger weapons in small turrets that can protect the sides of a vehicle. This allows a vehicle to fire its side mounted weapons in a 180-degree arc, instead of the usual 60-degree arc.
Sponson turrets were an experimental technology until 3079, after which they began to be mass produced and deployed by various powers. [3]
