Description
The Sloth was designed by a team at the New Avalon Institute of Science that consisted mostly of Lyran nationals. Rather than attempting to copy the Elemental suit that was so effective, they opted to create a quadruped design that could serve as a mobile weapons platform. Even though it is technically battle armor, the Sloth in most ways resembles a small vehicle. Its quad design precludes it from making anti-'Mech attacks or riding mechanized on an OmniMech, though it is advantageous in that it is more stable and easier to train pilots used to more traditional weapons of war. As of 3070, this first-generation battlesuit is no longer in production.
Weapons and Equipment
In its role as a mobile weapons platform, the Sloth carries a pair of Small Lasers, giving it good damage potential and staying power. To supplement the lasers, the Sloth mounts a Pop-Up Mine that can attach a powerful explosive onto unsuspecting enemies, each of which is as powerful as two short-range missiles.
Variants
- Sloth (Interdictor)
- During the Jihad designers removed the pop-up mine, and upgraded the Sloth to use ER Small Lasers. What made the upgraded Sloth so effective was the ECM suite that was installed in place of the mine. This system disrupted Word of Blake forces very effectively.[4] BV (2.0) = 44[5]
- Sloth "Huntsman"
- This Dark Age era variant carries two "King David" Light Gauss Rifles and is equipped with a Battle Armor Mechanical Jump Booster. It is protected by Improved Stealth armor. BV (2.0) = 33[6]
