Sapphire Metals was a Draconis Combine BattleMech manufacturer.
Overview
Originally a small production facility owned by Luthien Armor Works, it was purchased by the Sapphire Sunset yakuza oyabun. Renamed Sapphire Metals, work began on producing a pair of wildly altered Charger variants, which the yakuza clan hoped would find popularity within the Draconis Combine's Ghost Regiments.[3]
Sapphire Metals was noteworthy not only because of its ownership, but also because it was one of two factories in the much-reduced Dieron Military District.[4] By 3067, the company was a division of New Samarkand Metals.[2]
Sapphire Metals was the only heavy industry on Shimonita as of 3079.[1] During the Jihad, the plant lost about 40% of its workforce and facilities and the factory was running at 70% of its maximum production in 3079.[4]
