Description
The Samarkand Class Carrier is Warship size aerospace fighter carrier, used at the dawn of the Star League Era. The ships were noted for its good fighter compliment for its time.
The carrier was idea of Draconis Combine Coordinator Hehiro Kurita. The ship was put in quickly into production when inevitable to the Coordinator that Reunification War was going to be reality. Hehiro's orders for creation of the carriers boosted the economies of several worlds.
Hehiro order four ships of the Class to be produced which were launched 2579 & in 2585. These ships served well during the Reunification War, which only one of these ships were lost in fighting against Outworlds Alliance.
A economic boom followed the Reunificiation War, which The three surviving ships were assigned to colonization efforts of the Combine. These ship were used to ferry supplies, equipment and other supplies which lead them to become symbols of this prosperist age.
These ships were used to escort Coordinator Sanethia Kurita to new nation capital of Luthien.
Over 89 years later, an improved version of the Class was produced, the Block II.
Armaments & Capacities
Weaponry
The principle capital weaponry for the ship size is consister light, its front arc has single Medium Naval PPC, while two Class 10 Naval Autocannon rounted out its front weapons. Its broadsides only has single Light Naval PPC per arch, while its aft sides pair of Class 35 Naval Lasers. Protecting its after is single Class 45 Naval Laser.
For its conventional weaponry. Its bow is armed with five LRM-20 Launchers, backed up four medium lasers. On the ship's front sides, it four LRM-10 launchers and three SRM 4 launchers providing close up protection. On its broadsides, it has ten Machine Guns per boardside, providing last ditch defense with 100 rounds per side.
It aft sides, The ship has pair of Large Lasers and pair of Medium lasers together in a weapons bay per side. Backup in seperate weapons bay is six Machine guns per side with 100 rounds of ammo.
In the aft, has a pair of Medium Lasers and six Machine Guns providing protection against conventional threats.
Protection
The Samarkand has 494 tons of Armor protecting its quarters fairly evenly with slight increase in armor to bow. Its structural integrity is up to 71, giving it survivablity

The ships's principle payload includes;

- Bay 2: Small Craft (12) - 1 Door
- Bay 3: Fighters (36) - 4 Doors
- Bay 4: Cargo (46,757) - 6 Doors
Named Ships of the Class
- Samarkand - The Lead ship of the Class; Ship was part of 2581 invasion of Outworld Alliance.
- Benjamin - Launched proximately at the same time as its lead sister ship, the Samarkand. The Benjamin was part of the initial invasion of the Outworld Alliance with its older sistership.
- Dieron - The Dieron launched in 2585 and fought along with rest of its sistership in Reunification's Outworld Alliance campaign.
- Alshain - Launched with Dieron in same year and fought in reunification war as well.
