Rachel Specter (sometimes spelt as Rachel Spector) was an officer with the Armed Forces of the Federated Commonwealth and the Lyran Alliance Armed Forces, most notably serving in Adam Steiner's 1st Somerset Strikers.

Early career[edit]
In 3049 Specter was assigned to accompany Major Adam Steiner at the famed Nagelring.[3]
The 17 October 3055, Adam, with Rachel, talked on Tharkad with the social general Thomas Hogarth, which was leading the research project of the Heavy Gauss Rifle. Hogarth was very arrogant and condescending with both, and when Steiner tell him than his project won't help against the Clan threat, the general simply ignored him.[4]
Remaining Adam's aide for many years, rumors persisted during the Word of Blake Jihad that the pair had had a liaison during an on-again, off-again relationship. When the bachelor Adam became Archon of the Lyran Alliance during the Jihad and pressure mounted upon him to secure the line of succession, numerous people expressed dismay that he would marry Specter, a "mere" commoner. Despite the rumors and perhaps due to the demands of decorum that he find a noble bride, Adam ultimately married Heather Fyhne, Duchess of Arcturus, despite his close relationship with Specter.[5][6][1]
With many observers considering the marriage more a political move than being made out of feelings between Adam and Heather, rumors continued to persist about Adam's relationship with Rachel Specter, by this stage Specter having retired from active duty and was a respected professor at the Nagelring. Despite the rumors, neither Adam nor Rachel had any official contact with the other since Adam's wedding, ensuring no impropriety could be inferred.[1] Ultimately when Archon Adam Steiner died of heart failure in 3121, numerous holo images of Rachel Specter were found among his personal effects.[7]
