Portia "Torrent" Ryan was a MechWarrior in the employ of Paula Trevaline in the thirty-first century.[1]
History[edit]
During a visit to the Tortuga Dominions, Portia Ryan interrupted an assassination attempt on Trevaline's life and was rewarded with leadership of Scourge Company. Her unit would take part in several scouting missions along the Taurian Concordat border. She was known for her attention to detail and obsessive nature with fire, meticulously setting fires that not only raged on destructively, but were eerily symmetrical and artistic.[1]
Portia claimed to be related to Redjack Ryan, the famed pirate king of Butte Hold.[1]

Portia Ryan was a notable Firestarter pilot.[1]

An apocryphal version of Ryan's 'Mech, dubbed the Ember, appears in the MechWarrior Online and MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries video games as a Hero 'Mech. This modified Firestarter has all of the flamers moved into the arms for extra precision.[2]
