History[edit]

Sections[edit]

Section A: Securitatis Internum[edit]

(Internal Security)

CO: Craig Adams

Section A monitored the activities of the established informer network. This network contained Informers (delatores) who gathered information for reports. These reports were sent to the planetary station chiefs. SI station chiefs assigned agents to sources that were suspicious or when a case was not clear enough. They worked with the local police forces to prevent civil unrest and the spread of dissident movements. Operatives had lists with names of people for "protective custody" and provided evidence gathered by delatores at trials. Foreign visitors were watched closely.[1]

Praesidii Praetoris[edit]

(Palace Guard)

CO: Prefect Niclas Wallin

Under control of the Securitatis Internum, all Guardsmen were members of I Legio. They underwent rigorous screening and swore an oath to defend the Caesar at all costs.[1]

Section B: Observationis Externum[edit]

(External Surveillance)

CO: Kevin Weekes

Section B handled all activities outside of the Marian Hegemony. OE field agents (delatores external) infiltrated other realms and gathered information about local instability and created civil unrest if necessary. The Marian diplomatic corps and foreign populations contained sleeper agents for long range plans. In some cases they worked together with Word of Blake's ROM and provided information on foreign troop movements where possible.[1]

Section C: Delatura Militaria[edit]

(Military Intelligence)

CO: Prefect Bret Hedican

They acted as internal security and checked the background of all Legionnaires with access to sensitive information. Their chief responsibility was to gather information on enemy movements. Operatives also ran listening posts, monitored all radio communication and provided accurate information on all enemy operations within Marian borders. They had a special task as "political officers" to watch their comrades (and each other). At courts martial their testimony was considered invaluable.[1]

Section D: Operationes Abscondites[edit]

(Covert Operations)

CO: Sean Hill

Their tasks included infiltration, assassination, extraction and sabotage. In wartime, five-man teams were dropped behind enemy lines. Their mission was to scout enemy positions and sow general chaos. Their HQ was located on Horatius which was also the base for the Cohors Morituri. Some members were pardoned and proved resourceful, quick studies.[1]

Notes[edit]

  • ^ The agency was founded by Marius O'Reilly during his reign, placing the date between 3009 and 3048.[1]
