Description
The Nyx is a Light BattleMech original developed by the Word of Blake in late Jihad. The Blakist design and prototype that were captured by Allied Coalition's Draconis Combine force on Quentin in 3077.[2] The prototype and designs were rushed off to Draconis Combine's Diplan MechYards, where engineers did not have resources to put the advanced prototype into production. After the liberation of Terra in 3079, Combine would ask aide from new Terran government to assist with development of the 'Mech. It would be jointly produced by both the Republic and Combine, prior to very end of the Jihad.
The design was conceived as a speedy recon 'Mech, with a Pitban Extra Light Engine allowing it reach 162 km/h. The design utilizes a Beacon Active Probe as part its role as Scout 'Mech. It's hull is protected by 5 tons of Ferro-Fibrous Armor, so it can endure enemy fire long enough to fulfill its mission.[3]
Armament
The Nyx's has pair of arm mounted Diverse Optics Extended Range Medium Lasers to provide it moderate long ranged firepower. The 'Mech must close in to bring its Six-Tubed Short-Range Missile Launcher and Diverse Optics Extended Range Small Laser to bear. The weapons and other equipment heat managed by its 10 Double Heat Sinks.[4]
Variants
- NX-90 - A proposed variant designed by the Word of Blake, this Experimental Tech version of the Nyx employ in unique method of attack. The 'Mechs laser weaponry and its Beagle Active Probe would removed in favor of pair of BattleMech Lances. Design was seen to use its speed and these physical weapons to deliver piercing attacks against its opponents. BV(2.0)=????[5]
- Nyx C3 Variant - A House Kurita conceived variant, this version of the Nyx would employ a C3 Slave Computer. The Six-Tube SRM Launcher would be downgraded to a 4-Tube. BV(2.0)=????[6]
