Mission 4
Objectives:
- Investigate the Great Gash
Mission Description
Armstrong: You’ve done a good job of disrupting Clan operations thus far, Commander, but our primary objective is to link up with Victor’s force on the Plain of Curtains.
Holloway: The most direct way to the Plain is through a large canyon which splits the northern mountain range. The pass is known as the Great Gash.
Kendra: Won’t that be a perfect place for the Clans to ambush us?
Holloway: Yes, it’s a risky route to take, but our own forces on the Plains also understand its strategic importance… Hang on. Sir, I’m picking up a wide beam broadcast, but it’s badly degraded by the Diabolis. I’ll clean up what I can and put it on the comms…
Mystery Man: I am… I am a killer of men… This pass is mine to ward. I offer… A warrior’s death, …of those who would accept my offer… smaller companions… destroyed one of my lasers…. I will kill you all, alone or in groups.
Kyle: Was the guy really calling out the local Jade Falcons? By himself?
David: He must be insane.
Armstrong: Keep the chatter down. Sergeant. Do you have any idea where that transmission is coming from?
(A large explosion can be heard)
Kyle: What was that!?
Holloway: I’m detecting massive seismic shockwaves, originating north by northeast. That is the same direction as the Great Gash. Something is going on up there, Colonel. Something big.
Armstrong: Commander, I need you to scout that canyon. Use the cover of the Diabolis. We need to make sure there are no nasty surprises waiting for us.
David: Well, if there is a nasty surprise, we’ll be the first to find out.
Kyle: Yeah. Wait, what?
DURING MISSION
Objectives:
- Investigate the Great Gash
- Leave the Area
Secondary Objectives:
- Search and Destroy
Holloway: The entrance to the Great Gash is to your north. Be advised: There’s a Clan base in the area, so expect heavy resistance.
Dominga: I recognize these insignia. This base is a staging area for the Falcon Guard.
Holloway: The Falcon Guard?
Dominga: The Falcon Guard are an elite, front-line unit for Clan Jade Falcon. There are too few ’Mechs here to account for them all. The main formation will be deployed elsewhere.
Kyle: The Gash has been collapsed. There’s no way we can pass through it.
Omata: Destruction like this… Someone must have prepared the pass for demolition.
Kendra: Our mystery man? He baited a trap?
Kyle: One hell of a trap.
Holloway: Regardless, it’s useless to us now. Get out of there, Commander. We need to regroup and plan a new route to the Plain of Curtains.
