Description

Originally conceived as an electronics countermeasure attack against a targeted mech, the Magnetic Pulse Warhead (MPW) was developed by Thomas Marik as an attack on the magnetic shielding of a fusion engine. MPW's can be fitted to standard short range or long range missile systems. While the warhead does no physical damage to the target the disruption of the reactors containment causes engine heat to escape into the interior of the target mech.[1] Furthermore, the EMP effect of the warheads overwhelm the targeting and tracking systems of the target making the MPW an effective suppression weapon.[2] The propellant in the missile body is rather volatile and will still cause damage in the event of an ammunition explosion even though there is no explosive warhead.[3]
