Janos Marik was Captain-General of the Free Worlds League during the Fourth Succession War. He prosecuted that war ineffectively, losing territory to the nascent Tikonov Free Republic (later absorbed into the Federated Commonwealth).
Janos fathered ten children, though only four survived him. He fathered Martin, Gerald, Therese, Duggan, Cartwright, Faith, and Thomas with his first wife, Hilda Lauber. The remaining three, Paul, Kristen, and Janos, he had with Ana Stewart.
He, along with his son Duggan, were assassinated in 3035 by his nephew, Duncan, during a strategy session concerning the Andurien Secession.
