Planetary Info
According to the (apocryphal) novel Wahnsinn und Methode, the planet of Icar (as of 2598) had 75% of its surface covered by water and had two continents with environments spanning the range from jungles to deserts to tundra, ideal for combat training purposes. Two mountain ranges are mentioned: The Dominarius mountains, featuring a high plateau, and the much smaller and lower Bellisardes which form a roughly equal-sided triangle. Icar's Capital city is Athena Magna.
Planetary History
Pre Star League
Icar was one of seven worlds settled by colonists from the Rim Worlds Republic between 2334 and 2338 as an attempt by Maxwell Rowe to create a buffer zone between the Republic, the Draconis Combine and the Tamar Pact.[1]
Star Leauge Era
Icar was a part of the Apollo Province of the Rim Worlds Republic and was conquered by the Lyran Commonwealth during the 2773-2775 Republic-Commonwealth war.[6]
3rd Succession War
Steelton was one of the diversionary raids launched by the DCMS in 2866 in order to divert Lyran forces from the Federation of Skye. [9]
Clan Invasion
Icar was conquered by Clan Wolf during Operation Revival, only to then be conquered again during the Jihad; Clan Hell's Horses launched a invasion of the Clan Wolf holdings in the Inner Sphere in early 3071, acquiring holdings for their own relocation to Spheroid space. The first wave of attacks captured four worlds; the second wave captured another four, of which Icar was one. The first wave was launched between the 21st and 28th of February 3071, with the second wave falling somewhere between the end of the first wave and the 7th of April.[21]
