Description
The Harvester Ant is a Industrial Quad 'Mech designed for farmers/colonists during the golden era period of Star League. It was built by Kong Interstellar of Connaught, where the Industrial 'Mech became success for the company. Production continued until the daunting years of the Succession Wars, where Kong's manufacturing abilities were wrecked. The many of the design fell into disrepair, with many of them being stripped for parts for BattleMechs.
The design was returned to production in 3058 when new factory was constructed. During the brief Second Star League period, sales begun to rise. However, 3060s had flux of Civil Wars, that lower the demand for the 'Mech.
Capacities
The Harvester Ant is a simple design used collect bulk crops (example: grains, corn) using two Combines mounted front of its front leg actuators. The 'Mech was design in mind for colony uses, with intentional inclusion of flexible Leenax engine. The engine allows the design to run on any combustible fuel found in the early stages of life on a colony world. It is noted for being easy control design, specially less experience drivers/pilots. Its quad leg design allows the Ant to handle difficult terrain.
The design is protected by 2 tons of commercial Star Slab armor, which has been shown to be too weak for combat situations.

The 'Mech has a 2 ton cargo capacity.
Variants
Some forces, desperate for defenses, have modified their Harvester Ants to mount weaponry. Though not effective against most dedicated combat units, these armed IndustrialMechs can effectively engage conventional infantry and light armor.
- Machine Gun - This variant of the Harvester Ant removes the combines and replaces them with a pair of Machine Guns in each torso. A half ton of ammunition is provided in each torso as well. To deter heavier units, the center torso mounts an SRM-2 launcher with a ton of ammunition. A pair of heat sinks disperse the SRM heat. BV (2.0) = 127[1]
- LRM Carrier - This version mounts an LRM-5 in each torso. These are fed from a single center torso ammunition bay. A pair of heat sinks disperse the heat from the LRMs. BV (2.0) = 214[2]
