Description
The Harpy class ProtoMech was the first ever created. Intended as a "proof-of-concept" more than an actual fighting unit, the Harpy doesn't outperform a standard Elemental battle armor suit in most categories. The only real advantage it offered over the battle armor was the top speed and size. Because of this it was quickly relegated to anti-infantry work.[2]
As a proof of concept however, the Harpy did demonstrate that the ProtoMech (with improvements) could become a viable weapon.
Armament
The Harpy mounts only a single Machine Gun as it's weapon. The very restricted ammunition supply (10% of a standard 'Mech or vehicle mounted machine gun) was also a hindrance.
Variants
As it was a prototype for all ProtoMechs, no known variants exist.
