Plot summary
Launching from the Excalibur-class DropShip Blue Corona, Stingray pilot Eric Domingo and his wingman Patyr fight a delaying action against the forces of Victor Steiner-Davion to cover the retreating loyalist DropShips. Over the course of the intense dogfighting, Patyr's fighter is destroyed and Eric ends up dropping through New Avalon's atmosphere in a badly damaged craft, with a light enemy fighter in pursuit. He manages to destroy the enemy fighter but cannot save his own craft from the pull of gravity.
