The Fortitude was a JumpShip of unspecified type. As an Explorer Corps vessel it traveled to the M-class Orion Nebula in 2982 together with the Discovery on a scientific mission, gathering astronomical data there for three months. More than 1,600 light-years from Terra, this was the farthest a manned voyage had ventured from Terra up until that time.[1]
