Cynthia Evans was the commanding officer of the First Canopian Light Horse as of 3025.[1]

History[edit]

Major Evans, serving with the First Canopian Light Horse, was stationed on Megrez in 3025.[1]

Andurien Secession[edit]

When the Magistracy of Canopus invaded the Capellan Confederation as part of the 3030 Andurien Secession, Evans and the First Light Horse were sent to take the planet Drozan alongside a moderate mercenary force. Evans' primary objective was the elimination of the defending Warrior House Dai Da Chi which, if removed, would allow the Canopian military to achieve a link up with their Andurien allies. Most of Evans' forces were not used to fighting trained, experienced Inner Sphere opponents and the ensuing conflict against the Warrior House proved to be just as damaging to the Canopians as it was to the Capellans. Losing a quarter of her forces by the end of the year, Evans remained unable to claim control of the Warrior House's mountain fortress or many of the planet's key cities.[2]

As the battle for Drozan continued into 3031, Evans' decision to wage a defensive war against the smaller but more experienced Warrior House force brought her into conflict with the mercenary Caesar's Cohorts. While the Cohorts' commander pushed for the aggressive destruction of the Capellans' support infrastructure in order to force them off-world, Evans preferred to hold the territory they had already captured while letting the Warrior House wear itself down. After six months of low-level fighting, the Cohorts were allowed to implement their plan but were quickly made the target of renewed Dai Da Chi hostilities. By July, Caesar's Cohorts were bloodied and almost out of supplies but Evans believed they had done enough to weaken the Capellans and ordered a final push. By 3 August, the planet was declared under Canopian control and Warrior House Dai Da Chi was similarly declared extinct, while in reality the defenders had simply vanished ahead of Evans' final assault.[3]
