Before the [[Blackout]], Connor Industrial was a manufacturer of petrochemicals and heavy industrial equipment. In the wake of the HPG collapse, amidst armed conflict within the [[Republic of the Sphere]], the company turned to arms manufacturing. By 17 February [[3133]], the company had announced that it would convert its Fairfax factory to produce artillery weapons and ammunition. Connor Industrial's turn to arms received public backlash, particularly from Towne's peace activists. [[Citizens for Peace and Prosperity]] and the [[Hope Foundation]], among other groups, took to the courts to stop the company. As of 17 February, the Towne Supreme Court had rejected every application for an injunction, Chief Justice [[Pavel Gramstadt]] even declaring that future attempts may result in criminal investigations. Other activists took less legal approaches, several breaking into the Fairfax factory to sabotage it. Three such saboteurs died in a chemical spill on the 16th.<ref name=DAINNp110/>
