Hello everyone! I'm a Portuguese designer and student with a tremendous fascination with Battletech.

Always had a great deal of curiosity and excitement towards this universe even before I had any idea what it was all about, simply by seeing anything related here and there. In fact, my first contact with it was Mechwarrior 3 and the MWDA Clix system when I was much younger. With my growing appreciation of giant robots, militaria, games and miniature modelling, I always maintained a very superficial and virtual contact with BT for some reason (through MW4, MWO and MWLL), until the last couple of years where I took a deep breath and decided to dive head-first into this amazing universe. Had my first games earlier this year!

This is where Sarna was absolutely essential and a critical source into understanding Battletech.

Since then, I've been getting my hands on anything BT-related and chewing up fluff like there's no tomorrow! My only setback in terms of boardgaming (either CBT or AS) has been the extremely small and segregated community here in Portugal, but I'm making an effort to join the inner circles and open them up! Fortunately the franchise has been getting some fresh air in the form of video games and new material from CGL, which I hope will interest new blood into the universe and table top aspect of things.

I created this account over 6 years ago and though not an active contributor, I do use Sarna often for lore reference, so I guess it's never too late to introduce oneself. I first heard about BattleTech as a kid when I bought another unrelated FASA product in the late 80s and got their product catalog leaflet. I was fascinated by all the BattleTech books, novels etc. evocative of a complex world building. My first ever game of tabletop BattleTech was only a few years ago unfortunately, for lack of opportunity, but I have played pretty much all the video games over the years. Sarna is this awesome massive repository of BT knowledge that I guess you would need people poring over tens of books to get a piece of information without it. Thank you so much for this.

I have been a major BattleTech fan for many years. I have read a lot of the classic line of novels. I have read some of the Mechwarrior run and the Mechwarrior: Dark Age. I have been a big fan of the Clans. But I do look at it from all angles. I would love to see more details on the clan wars and the jihad era. The mercanarries side has also always interested me. The Black Thorns, Grady Death Legion, Northwind Highlanders. I also have played alot of the PC Games. Mech Commander 2 was a major favorite. What's up guys. I'm a long time Battletech fan, I used to play the table top game semi-competitively way back in the mid-90s, also a fan of the books (up to about 3060, lost interest after that). My love for the BT universe was recently rekindled by the Kickstarter campaign for the Battletech computer game by Harebrained Schemes. I'm a web programmer and I've been trying to assemble an interactive map of the Inner Sphere 3025 to help out newcomers to find their bearings. To explain, I played some of the video games growing up, look at the pictures in a TRO from the library every now and again, but didn't ever read any of the fiction or play the tabletop game. I noticed that the stats for the LAMS are in the Mech lists but, no pics. I have the pics from a first copy 3025 tech readout for the LAMS. Is it ok to post them or is there a copyright issue still and that's why their not there? Also, just got my hands on a 2750 readout with the stats on the types of naval weapons used in BattleTech. Will edit them to the wiki ASAP. If I can be a help with questions on tech issues please ask. If I have it I will do my best to get the info out. Thanks again to all. All of the things I have added are well referenced, and hopefully read easily...  I started playing in the early 90's, and have kept up with most of the BattleTech timeline with various supplements.  Within the last several months, my interests have turned towards the deep periphery and Clan space as I am working on a deep periphery MechWarrior campaign.  Beyond periphery realms, I am interested in BattleTech history (but not so much on major characters, playing with them is too detrimental to the continuity...), and I am hoping for a TRO on the early Clans (why always play games in the present, no?). I used to play BattleTech back in the 80s because I was interested in Robotech the game had LAMs.  I played and read until the end of the first Clan scenarios when ComStar beat them at the Tukayyid.  Left because there was not enough support for the roleplaying.  Drifting back now, I had heard the game had an improved roleplaying part and a combined arms thing called Strategic Operations coming out. My interests, and I hope, contributions, are on the strategic and historical level. Astrographic data like jump routes, survey and census data, history, timelines, biographies. I got into BT in early 90s played pretty steadily 2 times a week for about 2 years. I still own a fairly large number of manuals and game books. I got into reading the novels in 95 when I spent a few mmonths disabled and think that I have to date read all the novels up to I Am Jade Falcon. In 1990 a few friends were trying to talk me into trying this game they were playing called BattleTech. I resisted. Beating up giant robots sounded just too cool, and I knew I would end up buying every product in sight. I was right. I ended up buying almost every sourcebook available. My roommates and I played BattleTech every Monday night for three years. I offered to GM if it meant we'd only play BT. In 1994, I had one of the first BT pages on the net. (I think Nic even linked to me). I got out of the game after college, though. Now I'm teaching my 10 year old son to play and starting to write BT fiction again.

==Workerbee==
Back in the late 90s (I caught on late to Battletech), I got a copy of one of Robert Thurston's Battletech novels at my local bookstore as a bit of light reading for home. However, reading the book, I soon realized that this series was incredibly well-written and well maintained, and I decided that I wanted more of it. I began collecting more and more of the novels, and eventually got myself a copy of the boardgame, as well as most of the computer games (MechCommander 2 is by far the best in my opinion). Upon finding this site, I immediately decided to try and give back some of my accrued Battletech knowledge so that anyone, whether die-hard fan or occasional Battletech player, could learn and gain more about the Battletech universe.

As a personal style, I loathe careless mistakes made while typing, especially spelling mistakes that bring down our language in tatters all around us. I know mostly the history of the Battletech universe, and I will probably stick to those sorts of articles for my editing. 

As a side note, my favorite 'Mechs are by far the Blood Asp and the Marauder. The Battletech universe just would not be the same for me without those two.

Hey there, as I said on my personal page I got my Battletech start with the Star Lord novel followed by Tactics of Duty which introduced me to the Gray Death Legion. I was hooked ever since, and played Mechwarrior IV: Vengeance, Mechwarrior IV: Mercenaries, as well as MechCommander 2. 

In college I met a guy who had the original hex game on his PC (I can't remember the name of the software) and tried it out. He won of course, being an even bigger BattleTech nerd than I was. 

When Dark Age came out I was a bit confused. Reading the novels it seemed that the setting was reduced to battles with about four 'Mechs a side. This seems to match WizKid's miniatures game where there aren't that many 'Mechs, but I don't think I like it. Maybe they'll escalate the situation until we get back to the multi-regiment scrapfests of old like the Clan Invasion and the FedCom Civil War.

Later I discovered MechWorks and tried my hand at Mech design. Why didn't they fit PPCs on the Wasp? MechWorks spelled it out for me, and my understanding of CBT increased immensely.

When I got back to my old MechWarrior: Mercenaries game, I decided to look up BattleTech and Mechs on the Internet. Lo and behold, Google pointed me in the direction of BattleTechWiki. So here I am. [[User:Haruspex|Haruspex]] 09:04, 8 January 2008 (CST)

I love to read topic about Clan 'Mechs and, you should saw it, I'm a Clan suppremacist (lol). I'm also glad to help the CBT community by writing entries which hasn't been written yet.

Hi, my name's Emma, and I'm a mecha geek. I first took an interest in Battletech when Mechcommander came out, although I didn't start to get heavily into the game until Mechwarrior: Dark Age came out. I've never actually managed to play the Classic Battletech miniatures game because everyone I met who'd ever had an interest had given up and moved on to other things by the time I met them, but I've played a lot of Dark Age, Mechcommander 1 and 2 and Mechwarrior 4.

I came across this wiki  whilst I was working on my "Great Project" of trying to replicate all canon battlemech designs up to TRO:3067/Phoenix in Mechwarrior 4. So far I've done all 808 IS mech variants (Apart from one-offs like Tancred Sandoval's Templar loadout) and I'm taking a break before starting on the clan mechs.

I've only been able to track down a couple of of Battletech books (TRO: Project Phoenix and Field Manual: Periphery to be precise) because it's nigh-on impossible to get Battletech stuff where I live, so I probably won't be much use on the creating of articles and things. However, I've had experience as an editor in a few small publications, so I'm very good at spotting mistakes and correcting English, so I'll probably stick to clean-up to start with. Oh, one thing I almost forgot. Not sure where the right place to ask this is, so I'll ask here. Does anyone know what the right format is in the use of 'a' or 'an' in front of an acronym? For example, would it be "A LRM 10" or "An LRM 10". The way I was taught it, you use 'a' if the next word begins with a consonant and 'an' if the next word starts with a vowel, but no-one ever taught me what to do with acronyms and saying "A LRM 10" just sounds wrong to me. Hello all. I neglected to do this earlier, so here goes. :) I have been involved with BTech since 1987 when I first got introduced to it and I've loved it ever since. All of my experience with the game is pre-Clan, so that's what I know and love best. The Third Succession War is where my knowledge mostly lies.

I was ''Clifford'' on BTech 3025/26 MUSE and ran that game for about 3.5 years before handing it off to someone else. I played for many, '''many''' years, but it's been a while since I last played "competitively". :) I'm working on trying to fill in the gaps on the wiki that I know about regarding the 3rd and 4th Succession Wars.

I have most of the source books from the 3026 time frame, including all of the house books, the tech readouts and the Mercenary's Handbook from that era. I'm sure there are some things that I'm lacking, but I didn't think them necessary at the time. :) My latest acquisition was a first-print House Liao book.

I've played a lot of the computer games that were put out, including all of the MechWarrior and the MechCommander games. Again - it's been a while, but this is something I'm getting back into full force. :)

Hi peoples.  Obviously I just signed up and thought I'd say G'day *waves*.  I'm from Australia, like walks in the park, watching movies and blowing hell out of my friends in Mech combat. >=)
I have been interested in BattleTech/MechWarrior for a number of years having played alot of the MechWarrior series PC games (MW2+expansions, MW3+expansions, MW4+expansion, MC & MC2), read alot of the novels post-4th Succession Wars and GM'd a smallish BattleTech games as well as just starting a MechWarrior RPG with some mates.
I would like to contribute to BW in any way possible with what resources I have.  I have quite a few e-books (mostly the older house field manuals) as well as most of the 1700 series FASA hard copies including all official FASA Tech Readouts from 3025 to 3060 plus a couple of the early 1600 series hard copies.
I've never helped with a Wiki before, so if I can be of any help at all, let me know.

Hello everyone, i just signed up with Battletech Wiki , but i would love to contribute as soon as possible. While i started becoming a fan of the battletech universe via the classic battletech novels(only). I started at the very end of the series, right where the fed-com civil war was closing to a halt. While i was trying to hunt down the other books on the list(much of it discontinued) i dabled with the Mechwarrior Computer games( I started with Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries). Those combined with few other battletech-themed computer games(Mechwarrior 3, Mechwarrior 4, Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries, MechCommander 2) are the only source of my knowledge on the classic battletech universe. While i never played the MechAssault games on the X-box that was suppose to connect CBT(Clasic Battletech) with the new novel line from Wizkids, Mechwarrior: Dark Age(MWDA), i have collected and read most of the novels by Wizkids. I am reading book no. 22 :Wolf Hunters by Kevin Killiany. Since there is very little information partaining this frame of time in the battletech universe, here in Battletech Wiki(Wikipedia has more articles, which lead me to ask,  can we, should we, just link the information on wikipedia straight to battletech wiki, if so, how?). I would like to expend more on this particular timeframe, whoever is interested as i am in cataloging this particular timeframe, or just dropping by to give friendly advice can use the the talk page given to me by Battletech Wiki or just E-mail me at agus101186@yahoo.co.uk

Hi all. I'm currently just a reader trying to glean some information for an upcoming fight. I've been into Battletech since before dirt was formed...JK! A long time though, so long I don't really remember when I started, but I do know that it wasn't long after the first of the boxed sets came out.

The fight has started. One Star of a Ghost Bear recon unit against 2 lances of a veteran mercenary company. We had to break in the middle due to time constraints, but will pick it back up soon. One mech of the Mercs is out of the fight with only minimal weapons and one leg, another is very badly damaged and is only hanging on by a thread. The star, while beat up now, with one mech operating with an engine hit, is still very much in the fight. More updates as they occur.

Curse the Stravag dice. The fight went badly for the clan. Four head hits took out two mechs, and box cars on a center torso penetration took out a third with three engine hits. The fourth went down by losing all of the center torso, but no engine explosion. The last lost both legs and all weapons. The fight lasted 10 rounds. After the sixth round, when the Star Commander determined that he was going to lose this fight, broke his bid and called in re-enforcements. Unfortunately, they did not arrive in time.

Hey.  My name's Tom and I've been addicted to BattleTech since 1993 or so, when my older brother got the 3rd Edition boxed set for his birthday.  In terms of my interests, I'm more excited about the Star League and the Succession Wars than any of the later history; the games that I've run have been set during the 3rd or 4th War.  Personally, I think that the original, non-reprint Technical Readouts are some of the best BattleTech resources out there... so I guess it's fitting that my first submission was based off a TRO entry. Hello everybody! Well, here's me: I started playing classic boardgame BT and reading the novels in 1992, back in a time when I had plentiful of spare time in the army (Luftwaffe actually). Not knowing anything about the game universe or the 'Mech designs I randomly affiliated with House '''Liao''' and chose the Archer as my 'Mech for the first training battles. The preferrence for House Liao stuck.

Besides boardgame 'Mech combat we did a lot of scifi roleplaying in the BT universe back then and eventually played our own merc unit (with periphery bandit background), the ''Harbingers of Doom''. They eventually merged into the Oberon Confederation if I remember correctly. Truth be told though, BT was only one of the many roleplaying/boardgame systems that I played during that time.

Around 1996 I played as Liao MechWarrior ''Frabartolo'' in a text-based online BT community. I eventually dropped out because my university uplink was too slow for the realtime combat simluator, leaving my 'Mech a sitting duck in the training exercises, and thus preventing me from ever partaking in any serious battles. My notable exploits during the time included wasting 3 Griffins in a row in ill-fated attempts to prove the design's superiority on the battlefield, faring surprisingly well piloting a Crusader (a design I don't like) and eventually getting assigned a Cataphract, but never the Archer I always asked for. Despite merely mediocre combat performance (or perhaps because this was still better than than the average Liao MechWarrior) I was promoted to Subcommander, drafted into Warrior House Imarra against my wishes and given command of a Lance that had never seen combat action by the time I had to quit the game.

I liked the early LosTech flair of the BT universe and started to lose interest in the storyline when the Clans arrived because I do not like their in-credible story and the associated tech and rules and general munchkinism :-( Accordingly, my BT interests primarily cover the time period between 3000 and 3050, and the inner workings of the BT universe at that time. Always enjoyed playing the Liao underdog.

If I were to name a favorite Clan then it would be the Ghost Bears, or perhaps the Snow Ravens.

Old school Battletech player from the 80's.  I don't play anymore but still purchase the source books (long live Amazon!) as I enjoy reading the history of the universe.  I was a big fan of the Black Widow (I KNEW she was "related" to Alexander! lol) back in the day but recently have been focusing on the history of the clans.  Mostly from the exodus through the golden age.  I get a little bored with the Clans Return.

Seems like my enjoyment is from the early 2000's to the formation of the Star League then The Exodus to about 3000.  I'd have to think about my favorite clan but probably Clan Wolf. New to Battletech, but been a fan of the universe through the Mechwarrior game for years.  Happened at one LAN Party.  A teacher from my school was chaperoning the party and was also a gamer.  One who was getting frustrated with his game of Mechwarrior 4 Vengence.  I asked if I could try.  Beat out that mission and the next few after it.  Had my parents get me a joystick and Mech 3 for that birthday.

I got into Battletech when a friend of mine moved over where I live from the hole he used to live in.  Actually got into it not by gameplay itself buy by customizing mechs.  Ended up creating the [[Mule (Custom Mech)|Mule]] and the [[Tinman II|Tinman (UM-T1)]] that night.

Ever since then I've been further and further introduced to Battletech through multiple games of it with friends.  Most games through MegaMek now.  I've got the Tech Manual and access to an assortment of BT related documents, so I might be able to provide help every now and then depending on what I see is needed. Howdy!  I've been a fan ever since high school (1991), and have played off and on ever since.  While I have not been playing in near on a decade, I've actually found that Battletech (and all its data) have been great source of data for learning how to build databases, spreadsheets, generating forms, and all sorts of jobby-job skills I can translate into paycheck-earning work.  Yes, I have had to "Minimize Screen" because I was importing equipment tables from Excel to Access when my boss walked in.  Still though, it's a fun game to plan and strategize with, but I just haven't had a good opponent to get me back into it.  Lately, I've been gathering all of my previous documentation and consolidating it into a mercenary unit's core set of rules, including TOEs, manpower documents, and maps (in AutoCad!) of my base and its facilities.  Like I said, it's a great way to learn other software platforms when you're not rolling dice! I have been a fan and player for over 10 years.  I haven't played for a while since my son left the house.  While this doesn't allow me to play the game, I still keep up on it.  As Tripler says above, I use battletech for programming inspiration.  For my JAVA (not javascript) class, I recreated a Mercenary Contract Generator that actually prints out the contract or saves it to a file.  I have also programmed a Temperature Converter in C++ (and Visual Basic) and Planetary atmosphere, miscellaneous information and temperature converter in Visual Basic.  I have numerous WORD and EXCEL documents including TOE's for my mercenary command (started in 3025 and running through 3050).
Now I concentrate on planetary and system exploration.  This means several things.  First, I've plotted the entire Inner Sphere and Clan systems in 3d.  I am looking for information about planets and systems so I can fill in the blanks.  I also have a program that helps create systems.  So when the book says Jerangle is 3 of 5 planets, but doesn't specify the other planets, I can create them and their moons.  This makes for a more realistic system and gives more information other than x,y coordinates and system name!  So working on planets is one of my big things.  One other note:  I probably have almost all of the rulebooks, sourcebooks, TROs, and adventures since Battletech started.  So I should be able to help alot!

Hi all. Joined a bit ago and thought to say hello. I originally came across BT when the 3050 technical readout was first published and enjoyed it incredibly then. That got me into reading the books and I am now working on completing my novel collection. I tend to sympathize with the Warden Clans, and I sometimes irritate my friends and family by throwing clan terms into my sentences. My other interests include fast cars and racing. I am currently in the process of modifying my car and trying to increase performance. Hello everyone! I have forgotten more than I can remember about Battletech, since I was once very deep into the games, back in the 1980's. I am and was always a die-hard Battletech player and loved playing it for hours on end, even when I had many other things to do. I have limited myself to pre-3025 to 3040 era mechs, and never did get into the clans. Tho, they do make great reading and they do look awesome. 
I have been re-included with my old battletech energies by joining a local Battletech group that meets weekly. I have still many things to relearn, but as with riding a bike, it does not take long to get back on.
I do enjoy writing some history, and I am in the process of writing some non-canon history of a current battlion in the 3040-3050 era. Again, I am a re-found BattleTech player, and I thank you all for writing up and about the Battletech world. Please have a nice day!

Hello, all. I first started playing BattleTech back in the late 80's. I have also had about a dozen articles published over the years in BattleTechnology Magazine and MechForce Quarterly. I am the original creator of the non-jump capable WarShips known as Monitors (love them or hate them) I've mostly played the usual Mech games, though my main interest is with aerospace and BattleArmor. I am very fond of combined arms scenarios and stories that are set well outside the usual Great Houses. I am no longer an active BattleTech player, but am still very interested in current developments particularly involving WarShips and other large craft like Pocket WarShips. I created the original unit TekTeam Technical Services that was featured in several of my published stories like 'Saga of the Amaris Star'. I've been a fan of the BattleTech universe since MechWarrior 2 came out when I was in middle school.  I stared with the CCG and moved on to the tabletop game.  Though my introduction to the universe was through the Clans, I tend to play as the Inner Sphere (usually FedSuns). It grew from there when I was trying to find out the details on the mechs, such as the Atlas. I began to realize how much bigger of a world BattleTech is. I've been quietly active on the CBT forums for a few months now, and I've seen repeated references to the BT wiki over there, so I've been ducking in here to read whenever someone talks about subjects I know little about. Been a Battletech fan ever since playing Mechwarrior 2 and reading the manual which established the universe by being written in-character.  I've only gotten into the tabletop game recently, and, despite growing up on big stompy mechs, I favor a combined arms approach to battle.  I don't really remember where I found this, whether I was linked here from a Mechwarrior fansite, or if I just found it while looking for a mech, but now I use Sarna fairly often when I need some tidbit of info to build a force or find a unit or rule in one of my books.

My name is Peter LaCasse, and I have played Battletech for many years.  My best friend in middle school got Aerotech for his birthday, and when we saw that there was a ground combat based version called Battletech for sale at Waldenbooks in the mall, I somehow convinced my mom to buy it for me.  Since then, my favorite miniatures paint scheme has resembled the Warhammer on the cover, though without the RDF logos.  I love to design units and forces, and the most fun I have ever had playing Battletech was in the old style Battletech Open at a major convention, where you chose a lance of mechs for each of three rounds and faced off against some of the best players in the world.

Been playing the tabletop game since '89, and am a 100% devotee of MW2:Mercs (the only 'true' BTech game imho). Why hello, I'm c4167. I have heard of Battletech/Mechwarrior since I was 12. I played both demos of MW4 Vengeance, Mercenaries, and Mechcommander 2. I also own MW4: Mercenaries and play Mechwarrior Dark Age/ Age of Destruction. If I would I would aline myself with the Free World League and Federated Suns due to ethnic relations.

Long time lurker. Used to collect the manuals but I'm more obsessed with the PC/Console games and Virtual World when it was a thing. I'm heavily addicted to "stompy" robots and the history behind them. Really, really way too addicted to JIHAD through DA for the little mysteries that crop up like phantom units and mysterious arrivals and disappearances that go back to pre-invasion eras or earlier. Was doing a few research projects related to stuff for MWO debates, namely the angry in game chat messages saying 2 PPCs + Ac20 wasn't "Mechwarrior" which led me to the Kurita Warlord's Atlas then in the course of that turned into a larger unit creation project to match a unit in real life to one in lore. Noticed a merc page was written by someone, I'm guessing German based on structure and order of sentences, and decided to clean up the misspellings and sentence structures. First off, I'm Craig, and my journey through the Inner Sphere started in 1984 and I've been going ever since. I stumbled onto this site a few years back and have been enjoying it ever since. I finally decided to register and try my hand at editing some of the articles here. Not drastic changes, just some minor grammar and spelling stuff. Once I get comfortable with things I might even try creating whole articles, though I'll be the first to admit that I may not know enough to do that. I guess I'm the newest one in the group, so I'll do the obligatory introduction.  I too could not find the New User Posts, so forgive me.

My Battletech experience goes back to the mid-90's after graduating from college.  With free time, and living near a gaming store that had space for miniatures gaming, I discovered Battletech while FASA was still in existence.  With no internet at the time, fulfilling my need for Battletech miniatures required that I search for every obscure store across the Northern Virginia area and Washington, D.C.  Of course, I was a fan of the Unseens, harkening back to my days of Robotech / Macross, with the Warhammer and Marauder being my favorites (thus my screen name).  As the years have progressed, I've continued to be involved in the Battletech universe including the MechWarrior PC games, (MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries was my favorite), as well as the MechWarrior clicky game (when you don't have people to play Battletech miniatures, you gotta do what you gotta do).  I've read all the fiction, even the Dark Ages novels, but my favorite ones have always been centered around the Gray Death Legion.  William H. Keith Jr's novels were the real first introduction for me to the game, from then on, there was no turning back.  But, all good things must come to an end, and they did...with 'The Dying Time'.  FASA's deliberate destruction of the Gray Death Legion was a betrayal that, to this day, bothers me.  The GDL was the first mercenary unit that opened the door for many people to the Inner Sphere...and to systematically and so thoroughly destroy one of the premiere mercenary units of the Inner Sphere...well let's just say I was devastated.  The Kell Hounds survived the Jihad, so too did Wolfs Dragoons, even though Outreach was blasted into a radioactive husk.  No other mercenary unit of such distinction received the treatment that the GDL received.  And so, it has been my desire to research every facet of the GDL, and find a way to bring them back.  Sarna.net has been my source for a lot of Battletech information, but also for my quest to resurrect the Gray Death Legion.  Call me crazy...but everyone needs a hobby, right?

I hope I got this right and perhaps some of you could shoot me a message every now and then to let me know I'm welcome.  I hope I can contribute to this fantastic site.

My first exposure was to MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries which came with my PC in 1997.  Later I think MechWarrior 3 came with a flyer for this BattleTech thing with miniature mechs, sweet! Got a few minis but never played the board game.  Then I happened across Neveron, which was where I was exposed to the glorious 100x100  hex combat.  Over the years I've bought the new MechWarrior titles as they have come out and hunted down many old obscure ones as well.  Finally at the end of 2016 I pieced together a copy of the latest edition of the board game, as its currently out of print and subsequently dragged my friends into playing that and MegaMek.  If I can stop fiddling with painting mechs and obsessing over custom designs, I might give a serious try at patching the MechWarrior 2 to run in Windows 10.

blaquebx is for Blaque Baux Engineering:  If you can Laplace it, then we can black baux it. SunOS limited me to eight characters for a login I finally went with play@work.eng.sun.com.  Arlyn Kensington III was the moniker for my first character in Battletech and Mechwarrior callsign:  Ghoti; also Walnut Creek's Virtual World's callsign.  My adopted brother and I anxiously await the newest release. I am a fan of Pre-Clan(FRR for this 1/2 Swede). I still play Mechwarrior1+, and still relive the Crescenthawks in a virtual DOS or AppleOS box.  I thought it seemed pretty easy to get the LAM everytime. Oh yes I do like LAMs, all of them.  These days life showed up, and I am HW poor/rich and the desktop has a MB w/o video acceleration so RPGing is probably more my speed. Local play is alll I can get to with a DOS box, Apple box is dead on this machine.  I am a Speller and a Grammarian.  I am also a researcher, and a designer.  I liked designing Mechs, Aerospace fighters, Warships.  I am an admin, NA, DBA, and out of practice, and have never dealt directly with a wiki, so the '''requirements'''''Italic text'' are treat me like a noob so the wiki doesn't suffer too much, and I in return will take it slow. I found this site to be very useful for conducting research as I dabble in game editing and am more of a game master than a player. I was introduced to the BattleTech universe when a buddy got me to try MW:O in 2014, after countless conversations while we commuted to our grad school courses. It wasn't long before I found this treasure trove of information, which has been my primary source of BT universe reference data ever since.

I'd like to be able to add something new or flesh out some articles, but I don't have much in the way of BT universe resources of my own. Something I do have is lots of experience writing, editing, and doing analysis work from 25 years of school and work. I was even a newspaper copy editor for a little while, so I can help with style, grammar and spelling spot-checks when I run accross them, now that I've got an account. I'm also a voracious reader of fiction in general, and I've got gaming books for other games and systems, so lore and canon are familiar for me.

I registered my account because I decided that I wanted to add something to a community resource that's been very good to me for over 4 years now.

I've been a BattleTech fan since 1986, when a friend brought his rulebook to class. I stepped away from tabletop in the 90s, but played all the PC games, and got sucked into Dark Age later on. I got fully back into the game last year, mainly for building and bashing 'Mech models. This site has been permanently open in my phone's browser since then.

Hi everyone, I have been a frequent reader/lurker of this wiki for many years and eventually decided that I wanted to actively contribute to this site, even if just a little. I somehow stumbled over sarna.net a long time ago (and am glad I did), but honestly can't remember how exactly - probably by means of some search engine, looking for details of some 'Mech or faction. I am a huge fan of the BattleTech universe ever since the early 90s ("Far Country" by Peter Rice was my entry point, to be precise, and even if I may be one of a few, thought it was great, nostalgia aside). "MechWarrior 2" and MW 2: Mercenaries" were among my first games on PC and even though I never played the tabletop game as much, I often played (and still play) "MW: Dark Age"/"MW: Age of Destruction", read the fiction and the Sourcebooks, played and enjoyed the PC games. Aside from Star Trek there was no other fictional universe that influenced me as much as BattleTech, even on a personal level. Of all the cool and interesting factions I am most familiar with the Draconis Combine since it is the faction I am following right from the start, so that could be called something like a field of expertise. Other than that I am pretty new to wiki'ing and site editing in general, so I guess there will be some slip up eventually and I ask your forgiveness for that. But anyway, I am looking forward to working with y'all!

Hi all, I'm a relatively new recruit to the world of Battletech; after lurking on Sarna for a couple of years, watching MWO and Battletech (PC) gameplay on Youtube and Twitch and creating tabletop designs on Mordel.net, I decided to create an account on Sarna to help fix any minor errors I find in the pages - or to add information to pages that need it when I get the time! I'm deeply committed to keeping canonicity as strong as possible, especially within my fictional homebrew universe (which I haven't disclosed to the internet besides snippets in some of my designs on Mordel in case you were wondering), and will endeavour to ensure that any content I edit or create is as accurate as possible. I first came across Sarna whilst looking for an online blank Battlemech Record Sheet pdf, then several months after discovered that the website also functioned as a wiki for all things Clan and Inner Sphere! I've used it at least once a month since then.

I got into the universe at 14, when my dad gave me his copy of The Battletech Compendium to read. I have since played as many games of tabletop as possible (which is sadly only a few) and created at least a hundred custom Battlemechs and Vehicles (though not all have met my standards to make it onto the internet!). The Battletech Universe and Community mean more to me than any other I've been a part of, and I hope that I can begin to put back into the community some of the countless hours of enjoyment that I have received from it!

Hello everyone.  Koniving here, apparent "loremonger" according to MWO forums.  First MechWarrior exposure was to, of all things, a combination of Exo-Squad toys and MechWarrior 2 with a dash of BattleTech figures as a big wish list.  By MechWarrior 3 I was getting pretty big into it with the MechCommander series being among my favorite games, although my involvement didn't get as big as I would have liked (due to lack of other interested people locally) until the MW5 trailer.. where between then and early MWO I really began reading into things and collecting the materials.  This combined with some real life military experience (MOS 13-Mike, MLRS field artillery) brought together a greater fondness for the Catapult and a surprising number of similarities that BT has with the US Army's 1980s MLRS, including LRM minimum accurate range.  Before truly knowing some aspects of lore I'd have some hypothesis of how it would work and then be surprised to learn I was accurate to the lore which only further deepened my interest and appreciation.

I'll be here doing a LOT of searching for weapon and equipment brands, corporate details, and lore regarding all these for a BattleTech lore-friendly simulation mod for MW5 Mercs (with the first focus being lore weaponry).  As such any inconsistencies with the written information that I find (such as the ScatterGun-Light MG recently under Defiance Industries) I'll bring up and hopefully dig up useful info (as I've already found dozens of unlisted brands and dig up details of said weapons not yet on Sarna.net) and supply them here with their sources, for everything from laser color down to diameter size and special information (uncommon knowledge; the typical medium laser in BT is red, but in the games ever since MW2 it's been green; in MW1 it was yellow and small laser was green.  Also typical small lasers in early novels were also apparently green).

Btw, can someone tell me how to properly add source references to existing lists?  For some reason when trying "edit" on sources the text showing how it works is just gone.  I have the feeling I'd need to edit a whole page to put in the detail, source reference and add in the source instead of trying to add a source in the source section before / after editing a tiny section.

My first introduction to the BattleTech universe was The Crescent Hawks' Inception on a Commodore 64 and it grew quickly from there! I've always had trouble getting into the tabletop (largely from lack of other players around me) but the universe and history have always been my favorite part of BattleTech. When I was in college in the early 2000s I got into a lot of the more obscure bits of the lore and was pretty active on the Solaris7 forums, but then when life got busier it was one of the first things to go. I finally decided to sign up for an account and start making the changes I kept hoping someone else would do!

I have loved the Battletech world and have followed it for close to 25 years.  I started with playing the original Battletech game on my computer at home.  I have my cousin to thank for the time devoted to this game as he got me hooked back in my teenage years.  My favorite time period is the return of the Clans to the Inner Sphere as this was the major storyline for when I started playing Battletech.  I have played multiple different Battletech games on various gaming systems and have settled in with playing MegaMek for several years.  I have followed and utilized Sarna for several years as I have been playing whenever I needed to research something and decided that I should join and start helping out.  I have always had a fascination with the Logistical side of my games and can be found researching the Large Craft of the Battletech universe.

I am a humble fan of the BattleTech universe and have enjoyed it for over 25 years. For me, there just is not much I dislike about BattleTech. The Jiahd and Dark Age eras are just as fun for me as all the rest. I am currently running through the novels in order, which means rereading some and seeing most for the first time. I enjoy the lore, and have spent countless hours on this beautiful wiki. In doing so I have seen some typos (not complaining, I make typis al thr tme...), and some not-so-up-to-date entries. I'd like to see if I can help out with updating some stuff, and fixing some minor errors here and there. I would jump at the opportunity to work on entries that require modernization (as in needing additional information from post-Jihad era) as well as creating new entries for what is to come as we start seeing more stuff from 3148 and beyond.

Also, note to admins: I am a data scientist by trade, and if any form of text analysis (natural language processing), or any other form of analytics is of interest you here, let me know! Data science is my second favorite hobby, next to BattleTech.

Hey folks! I've been a BattleTech fan since the days of MechWarrior 4 and in recent years have really gone all-in for the setting and games (especially the TTG.) Hi everyone. My first introduction to Battletech was through MechWarrior 2, and I've maintained an on-again, off-again interest in the games since. I recently got back into it through HBS' Battletech and I'm currently doing basic mods through the .json files. I have released a mod called "True Argo Upgrades" on Nexus based on the work done in in a thread on the official Battletech forums, and I'm currently working on a mini-mod for Battletech Revised. I may end up releasing that depending on the response of the BTR crew. I hope to make useful revisions to the wiki during my own research. Hello, everyone. I've actually been here for quite some time now and somehow missed the instruction to introduce myself here. So I've decided to correct that. I'm Akamia. Been a ''BattleTech'' fan since childhood, having grown up playing ''MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat'', every iteration of ''MechWarrior 4'', and ''MechCommander 2''. I fairly recently purchased a copy of the ''BattleTech'' turn-based tactics game by Harebrained Schemes as well, and also began to knuckle down and learn how to play the tabletop; ''Total Warfare'' is the standard for most people, but I desire more. So, so much more.

I mostly lurk about this wiki, having learned of it kind of by accident once upon a time. I don't remember how. I do remember that I came here looking for, among other things, canon references to a ''BattleMaster IIC'' and a Solaris VII gladiator who somehow participates in assault circuit matches aboard a ''Hunchback''. Neither of which appear to exist, of course. Some sort of Mandela Effect nonsense. The former was me misremembering the ''BattleMaster'' in ''MechWarrior 2''. In fairness, though, the ''BattleMaster'' in that game uses Clan-spec weapons and equipment, because that's all the game had...

Anyways. I'm very interested in the lore of the ''BattleTech'' universe these days. The kind of stories the ''MechWarrior'' games can never tell, because in those games, it's all about the BattleMechs. While BattleMechs are cool and all, I'm finding ignoring everything else does the verse a disservice. Combined arms are interesting, the interpersonal interactions between the characters that live in the verse are interesting, the ''histories'' of entire interstellar civilizations are interesting. Incidentally, the "Tex Talks BattleTech" web series on the Black Pants Legion channel on YouTube kind of woke me up to how alive the ''BattleTech'' universe really is. I know some time periods are substantially less popular than others, particularly the more recent ones, but I think they all have something to offer that keeps things fresh and interesting.

My other, non-''BattleTech'' interests are quite varied, usually tending toward other science fiction franchises such as ''StarCraft'', ''Stellaris'', ''Doctor Who'' and such, but there are some genre outliers that have held my attention long enough for me to dive deep into their worlds as well. Things like the fourth generation of ''My Little Pony'', for example, as well as ''Monster Hunter''. I try to find time to tinker with a LEGO Mindstorms robotics kit once in a while, also, as I enjoy real robots as well. (Not to be confused with the "Real Robot" genre, which ''BattleTech'' is a part of)

Once I have a copy of ''TechManual'' and some TROs handy, I think I'd like to contribute more to the weapons and equipment side of the wiki, as that seems to be more bare-bones than anything else here. Details on specific makes and models of weapons are pretty scarce, I'm finding, and I don't know if that's because ''TechManual'' is vague about this stuff, or if it's because not enough editors are interested in fleshing that out. I know it's all fluff, but I've assigned a level of importance to the fluff that's admittedly a bit higher than a lot of people care about anywhere else. So that's going to be my initiative once the opportunity arises.
