Plot summary
Mathew Garret is looking to attacks made by an unknown attacked that pilots a BattleMech or an armed IndrustrialMech and that has been attacking ranches, killing cattle and even people in April 3065 in Randall's Regret. He is piloting a CattleMaster brought to the planet by the original colonists. He is also working with Jonathan Kerns HarvesterMech and they are trying to arm them with Machine Guns.
In the meantime, Ringo, the pirate is piloting his Mech, Bessie, won in a poker game on Tortuga and that had come to Randall's Regret after not joining Word of Blake recruiters on Herotitus. He is thinking what to do next as he has already attacked the easiest targets, and was a bit preoccupied with having to fight again Marshal Hancock and his deputies. His line of thinking was going for a big smash and grab that could help him refit his BattleMech and leave the planet.
By using two Nurfer, Mathew Garret is able to track Ringo and locates him in one of the farms he has already attacked. He returns to the village and informs them that the bandit is coming and he fears it is an Imp. They decide to fight him with nevertheless to defend their homes. Their two armed Industrialmechs and a jeep with some small weapons will face the bandit.
Ringo wins the battle. His UrbanMech beats the farmers, though he has a close call when the dying CattleMaster nearly got him. In the end he was able to get some coin and a compact roll of C-bills. But things were not getting easy.
