| The last of the three higher-level awards to be created by the Magistracy, the Ribbon of the Magestrix was initially established to honor those Canopian units that fought during the [[Capellan-St. Ives War]] of the 3060s, although since the award was created the Ribbon was also presented to units that have taken part in bandit-hunting raids outside the borders of the Magistracy. While the citizens of the Magistracy and the personnel of the MAF came to recognize the Ribbon of the Magestrix as an appropriate addition to the various MAF honors, the award remained somewhat controversial to those units that had a history of fighting against Capellan forces.<ref name="HB:MPSp87"/><ref name="FM:Pp27"/><br>The Ribbon of the Magestrix consisted of a black or white circular battle banner within which was displayed a stylized Magistracy logo; the colors of the award represented the type of mission that had been completed.
