The Argos system is the location of at least one habitable system or construct and as of 3145, is an independent world in the Periphery near the Fronc Reaches and Taurian Concordat.[1][2]

System Description

The Argos system is located near the Carthage[1][2] and Katinka[3] systems.

System History

The Argos system was either colonized by the Taurian Concordat after the Fourth Succession War or was an existing system that became significant enough for Inner Sphere nations to begin recording its location on maps.[4][5][6]

The Jihad

On December 2, 3070, Argos was raided by an unidentified pirate group; it was alleged that the bandits were operating from a location somewhere within the Fronc Reaches.[43] The war between the Taurian Concordat and Federated Suns officially ended on July 2, 3080, in the aftermath of Operation MATADOR, but the fortunes of the Concordat continued to decline. Many worlds, lacking confidence in the Concordat's central government, seceded from the Concordat; Tyrrhenia was the first of the Concordat worlds to do so,[44] leaving the Concordat even before the Jihad had begun, along with the world of Hellespont soon after.[26][36] Between mid-3079 and late 3085, six more worlds seceded: Argos, Carthage, Carvajal, Celano, Micros III, and Mirfak, and the governor of Charleston was debating declaring Charleston independent as well. Where the Taurian government had fought a war a decade before with the breakaway Protectorate, Argos and the other worlds that left the Concordat in the aftermath of the Jihad were effectively ignored in favor of reinforcing the narrow salient securing the Pleiades Cluster.[44]
