Captain Anton Shadd (born ???? – died 3028) was an officer with Wolf's Dragoons and member of the Seventh Kommando.[1]

Personal Appearance

Shadd was, shortly before his death in 3028, a compact muscular man with large scarred hands.[2]

History

Career

While after his death Shadd was thought by ComStar researchers to be a Lieutenant[3] who commanded only 4th Platoon (Shadow Platoon, Black Wolf), Motorized Infantry (Laser) of the Seventh Kommando[4], he was in fact a Captain who was the overall commander of Seventh Kommando.[2]

ComStar intelligence as of 3030 also suggested Shadd had participated in actions on Galtor, Ozawa, Niles, Robinson, Bettendorf and New Avalon, though the accuracy of those reports was uncertain.[4]

Death

Shadd was with the Dragoons on An Ting in January 3028, when their then employers the Draconis Combine turned against them. On 2 January Shadd was involved in a fight with a hostile Kurian crowd protesting outside of the Dragoon's headquarters, killing a woman who was attempting to stab Jaime Wolf with a flying kick.[2]

The next day Wolf ordered Shadd to enact "Contingency Plan Mohammed", a plan that had been developed after the experience with Anton Marik, which involved a raid on the HPG compound in Cerant in order to send a message to the scattered Dragoon forces ordering them to withdraw and regroup on the ice planet Misery.[5][3]

This was ultimately a suicide mission, as the small group of dedicated Dragoon soldiers and technicians who, with Shadd, had fought their way into the HPG compound, were killed after their message was sent by Draconis Combine troops (including four 7-man squads from the An Ting Civilian Guidance Corps, an elite Kurita Civilian "Volunteer" Squad and a Vulcan 'Mech).[1][3]

Legacy

The Dragoons would honor Jaime Wolf's promise to Shadd shortly before his death that he would be "remembered in the Halls"[5], by choosing his name to be one of their Honornames[6], as well as by often recalling his exploits.[7][8][9]
