History
The Fifth Free Worlds Guards regiment was formed sometime after the Charter of Incorporation was signed in 3139. The Fifth initially consisted of the survivors of the Iron Guard unit, as well as recent graduates from the Princefield Military Academy. To improve their experience, the Fifth also recruited several retired officers from the Duchy of Oriente's Duke's Own Corps of Foot and Horse. Since their formation they spent most of their time fighting off reconnaissance raids by the Capellan Confederation.[2]
In 3145 the unit was split into three smaller commands, garrisoning Hassad, Les Halles, and Calloway VI.[3]
