Unit Brief
The 1st Royal BattleMech Regiment, or Morgan's Lions, is a 'Mech Regiment that served 2nd Star League during its brief existence. The unit is named for Morgan Hasek-Davion, whose leadership set the foundation of Task Force Serpent's success.
Unit History
Formation
The unit was formed by many of the survivors of Task Force Serpent, at the request of former ComStar Precentor Martial Anastasius Focht. Colonel Andrew Reburn formerly of the late First Kathil Uhlans, was ask to lead unit. Many of his former country men from the now defunct First Kathil joined them along several clusters of Clan Nova Cat's Tau Galaxy. Other units contribute troops to formation of the 1st Royal includes also 11th Lyran Guards, 4th Drakøns, Kingston's Legionnaires and few members from both Northwind Highlander's MacLeod's Regiment and 2nd Knights of the Inner Sphere.[1] The unit 'Mechs force consisted of salvaged from long campaign on Huntress.
Colonel Redburn comb through old Star League recruitment documentation and implimented those old methods of recruitment. Including all new recuits must start at rank of sergent and must earn their commission.[2]
Build Up and Training
In course building up the unit, the 1st Royals when through series of training exercises against ComStar's Invader Galaxy between 3061 and 3062. The unit lost number times to the experienced Com Guard force. It was it third time on Tukayyid did 1st Royal succeed and come out victorious. The Invaders conducted their battle in the Devil's Bath, an area known for hot steaming mud pits and jaggered canyons.[3]
FedCom Civil War
When Victor Steiner-Davion, decided leave ComStar to remove his sister from the throne of both FedCom and Lyran Alliance. He instructed 1st Royals not to be involved in the battle and maintain its neutrality. The unit then continued its training, preparing day of it would be called into battle for the League. It conducted number of officer exchange programs with Clan Nova Cat and Clan Wolf (in Exile) fostering mutual cooperation between the factions and the 1st Royal Regiment.
Insigna
The Unit had adopted the Black Serpent that is coiled around the Cameron Star, with fangs open ready to strike.
Tactics
When unit first form, 20% of the unit consisted of OmniMechs and Clan technology enhanced 'Mechs. Taking advanage of this, the unit has lances worth of Clan equipt weaponry concentrate fire power on single individual 'mechs taking advange of their superior ranges. While doing this, entire force slow withdrawing from the enemy to keep conventional armed foes out or range.[4]

Notes
After the open breaks of the Jihad, its is unclear what fate of the unit was. It unknown if was utterly destroyed during the Blakist attack on Tukayyid.
