Vernon Fredricks was the commanding officer of the Fourth Deneb Light Cavalry as of 3025.[1]

History

Marshal Fredricks, serving with the Fourth Deneb Light Cavalry, was stationed on Harrow's Sun in 3025.[1]

Fourth Succession War

During Operation Rat, Fredricks and the Fourth DLC were part of the task force assigned with taking the Capellan world of Aldebaran from the forces of Warrior House Ijori. Facing off against the Warrior House's Second Battalion on the planet's southern continent, Fredricks' men were lead into numerous ambushes by the smaller unit before being able to declare the continent as secured in September 3028. Following the collapse of organized resistance on-world, Fredricks and the Fourth DLC left to participate in the fighting on Zurich.[3]

On Zurich, Fredricks and the Fourth DLC faced off against the First Battalion of Trimaldi's Secutors, which just so happened to be lead by Fredricks own disinherited daughter Major Vanessa Fredricks. The Fourth DLC's victory was guaranteed due to their sheer size advantage but Major Fredricks and a company of her troops managed to escape off-world.[2]

Fredricks and the Fourth DLC were next paired up with the New Avalon Institute of Science's Hazardous Material Emergency Team in order to capture Tall Trees and its rumored biochemical research facility. Intelligence indicated that resistance would be relatively light and was primarily composed of infantry regiments scattered across the planet's continents. When the local defenders realized they had no chance of beating Fredricks in a straight fight, the militia and local populace began launching partisan attacks against the DLC's medical, logistical, and communications resources. As the Fourth DLC marched closer to the supposed site of the biochem facility on the island of New Tierra del Fuego, captured militiamen refused to give up any information other than to warn about the consequences of tampering with the planet's biochem center.[4]

Just as the unit's First Battalion began the final approach towards New Tierra del Fuego, a series of explosions set off by a small unit of Death Commandos demolished the biochem center and left nothing behind but rubble. Within an hour of the detonation, most of the First Battalion was dead after reported feelings of nausea followed closely by a rash of fatal comas. When the leader of the NAIS HazMET team informed Fredricks of the possible bioweapon outbreak and asked to be placed in charge of the situation, Fredricks agreed to their request. After ordering anybody leaving New Tierra del Fuego to be shot and for specialized aircraft to fly over the island in order to detect contamination, the HazMET leader determined that the mystery disease could only be spread by direct contact with the pathogen and the quarantine of the island continued for the next several months.[4]
