Kinkakuji Enterprises was a manufacturer of atmospheric aircraft.
Overview
Based on the world of Kirei Na Niwa, Kinkakuji Enterprises produced conventional fighters for the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery.[1][2] Originally formed in 2950 when two older companies merged, Kinkakuji quickly had a big impact on the civilian aerospace market by producing three different designs of interplanetary airliners that were ugly, but cheap to maintain and reliable. These three designs provided the bedrock of financing Kinkakuji then used to branch out into other areas, primarily the design and production of conventional luxury aircraft for the nobility of the Draconis Combine.[1]
The main Kinkakuji plant was located on a large, rolling plain near the city of Newton on the Needles continent. The location of the plant meant that it was frequently hit by unpredictable and severe windstorms born in the nearby needle-like mountains; while this might have seemed like an adverse environment to manufacture aircraft in, the storms actually allowed for the aircraft to be tested under hostile conditions.[1][2]
During the Jihad, the Kinkakuji Enterprises facility on Kirei Na Niwa suffered no capital or personnel losses, and the operating capacity of the factory was at 100% in 3079.[3]
