Which Greek letter is in this logo?

I think this is a lower case gamma in this logo....

Traditionally, BattleTech artists used capital Greek letters in unit SSIs, which might be evidence that this icon might not be a lower case gamma.

Maybe it's an archaic letter not typically used in modern Greek?

What do you guys think?
