Description

The Ostwar was Ostmann Industries first attempt in creating BattleMech, first designed in 2470, but was only able bring into production by 2500. The due to the lateness of entering the BattleMech construction industry, Ostmann was technologically behind the times. The OstWar when it was first produced only had primitive technologies, while more recent designs were more advance and weight saving equipment. The Star League Defense Force decide to pass on purchasing the 'Mech, leaving Ostmann attempt to sell its design else where. Fortunately, other nation states, such as the Capellan Confederation and Free Worlds League, were more than happy to buy 'Mechs from the Terran based firm. Thought these actions, allow the Ostmann get the funding needed to build more advance BattleMech designs, such its successful Ostroc and Ostsol. As cost saving, many of these later designs shared similar parts and allowed for parts from such as more primitive OstWar to be utilized as spare parts if needed.

This became true life saver for Ostmann's later designs after the destruction of Ostmann plant on Terra. The OstWar design became extinct in early Succession Wars, but its parts still appeared time to time on its later successors.

In Jihad, Principality of Regulus becoming independant of the fragmenting Free World League, push its local producers for more 'Mech designs. SelaSys Incorporated main production lines were at full capacity. However, also owned a industrial 'Mech factory, Harmony MetalWorks on Harmony. SelaSys recently acquired primitive OstWar design, decided to putit back into production since it technology/equipment was not to far removed from Industrial 'Mechs it plant was producing. By 3075, it was in full production of the OstWar, looking to update it with modern technologies. However, at this time it would need construct a new production line to be able produce Modern version of the 'Mech.

Armaments & Capacities

Ostwar is armed with twenty-tube Doombud Long Range Missile launch for its long range attacks. In close range, the 'Mech is armed with 2 four-tubed Shannon SH-40 Short-Range Missile launchers in the each of its arms. It also has 2 Martel Medium Lasers mounted on the left torso. The 'Mech carries 3 tons of ammunition for the LRM rack while, it carrying 2 ton of SRM ammunition in its left arm.

The Ostwar has a host of primative and heavier technologies throught its design. It has 17.5 tons of Primitive Standard armor protecting its chassis. It also features a primitive cockpit as well.
