Planetary Info
Lapida II was settled for its vast mineral wealth. The centuries of removing and refining those minerals and ores, combined with the lax environmental protection mandated by the Combine government, have created a nearly toxic atmosphere. Despite this the world remains a major manufacturing world with industrial complexes that create a variety of military and civilian equipment.[1]
The DCMS also uses Lapida II as a logistical site, with several storage depots and refit centers located in the Firesand Desert. Unlike most deserts, the Firesand draws its name not from the environment (which is actually slightly chilly) but from the strong ammoniac salts located there. These salts can cause severe chemical burns to unprotected humans.[1]
