Description
The Wakazashi was designed in the late 2900's to give Clan Jade Falcon time to rebuild their touman. The Khan, Lisa Buhallin, ordered her scientists to create a heavily armed and armored 'Mech that could provide the Falcons with the breathing room they needed. The scientists answered her call with the Wakazashi. Though it uses an Endo Steel chassis, that's the only extravagant construction element in the design. A standard fusion engine powers the 'Mech, while standard armor protects it. Three Jump Jet systems allow the Wakazashi to cover broken terrain. Though it's top speed is comparable to an Atlas the Wakazashi served its purpose well. The simple construction made it easy to produce and repair, and the heavy armor allowed it to hang in a fight for a long time. Fourteen double heats sinks were enough to keep it in the fight.
The 'Mech was simple to build, but wasn't intended as a long-term production design. When the Falcon's fortunes changed it was quickly surpassed by new designs. The production facility was shut down in the early 30th century.[3]
Armament
The Wakazashi used a Gauss Rifle and ER PPC to provide long range firepower. An opponent who closed with the Wakazashi hoping to get under the minimum range of these weapons was in for a rude shock: A massive LB 20-X autocannon backed up by a pair of ER Medium Lasers. With three tons of ammunition for the Gauss Rifle and Autocannon, the Wakazashi was able to inflict large amounts of damage on a multitude of enemy forces.
Variants
Notorious for the difficulties in fixing it, the Wakazashi chassis didn't lend itself to modifications. No official variants are known to exist.

Notes
The fluff text for the design says it uses Ferro-Fibrous Armor, but the record sheet doesn't dedicate any critical spaces to armor and the number of armor points on the 'Mech is equal to tonnage times standard armor point count.
