In 3051 Kevin Jessup was an officer in the 26th Lyran Guards, commanding the First Company of the Second Battalion. When Tamar was invaded by Clan Wolf in November 3051, Hauptmann Jessup and his unit were trapped outside the walls of Tamar City. After the death of the commanding officer of Second Battalion, Hauptmann Jessup — until then a competent but unremarkable MechWarrior — assumed command, issuing a single order: "Stand and deliver." Second Battalion would hold its position, allowing the rest of the Guards to withdraw in good order, before retreating themselves. Three weeks later on Kobe, Second Battalion under Jessup would be cited for commendation as a major factor in the survival of the entire regiment.
