Description
An old Star League combined arms transport, many Lions went with the Exodus Fleet when it left the Inner Sphere. The Clans eventually refitted the ship for their revised unit structure, though they could never manage a refit that could support Elementals, so the design eventually was delegated to use by dezgra and freeborn units. All Lions in service with the Clans are from the Exodus fleet.
A few Lions also accompanied the Wolf's Dragoons when the came to the Inner Sphere, stripped of most of their advanced Clan equipment, though with the Clan cargo configuration still in tact, though they limited the ships to carrying two lances to attempt to allay suspicion.
Armament
The Lion has an impressive array of weapons and armor, nearly as formidable as some assault dropships. The long range firepower of the dropship is provided by eight ER Large Lasers, ten Large Pulse Lasers, six LRM-20s and six LRM-15s. In short range it adds ten Medium Pulse Lasers and six Streak SRM-6s. In addition, it carries a dozen Anti-Missile Systems for defense against enemy attacks. It further boasts plenty of ammunition for all its weapons and AMS, carrying over one hundred tons.
Cargo
- Cargo: 2,631 Tons
- Bay 1: 10 Mechs - 2 Doors
- Bay 2: 10 Infantry Stars (unarmored) - 2 Doors
- Bay 3: Cargo - 1 Door
Variants
Some versions of the Lion in service with Wolf's Dragoons carry a company of heavy vehicles instead of the infantry, which greatly reduces the dropship's cargo capacity.
