Star League Exploration Command

Overview

Founded by Star League Defense Force Commanding General Nicholas Kinnol sometime before 2646,[1] and at one time headed by Admiral (and future Khan of Clan Snow Raven) Stephen McKenna,[2] the Star League Exploration Command was tasked with a similar mandate as that of the later ComStar organization.

Science/Survey squadrons of JumpShips, DropShips, and occasionally WarShips were charged with expanding human knowledge and discovering new systems, both inside and outside of settled borders. The worlds discovered were both a source of raw materials and led to the founding of hundreds of new colonies. Solitary vessels to over a dozen ships performed science missions for months or years at a time.[1][3]

SLDF Navy

The SLDF's Fourteenth Fleet worked in conjunction with the Explorer Command during peacetime.[4]

Known Missions

In 2763 during the leadup to the Amaris Coup, an SLDF exploration team stumbled across a covert Rim Worlds hidden facility deep in the Periphery. The SLDF forces were destroyed by the planet's defenders.[5]
