System Description
The Duran system is located close to the Albion and Minderoo systems.[4][5] The Duran system consists of a class G4v primary orbited by at least two worlds.[1]
System History
The Duran system was colonized during or shortly after the First Exodus from Terra and was a member of the Protectorate of Donegal prior to the formation of the Lyran Commonwealth.[6]
Duran II
Template:InfoBoxPlanetStandard
Duran II - more commonly known simply as Duran - is the second planet in the system and is orbited by two moons named Cuccurullo and Duffy.[1]
Planetary History
Star League Era
In 2763 the 428th BattleMech Division - also known as the Concordance Division - was confined to Fort Amalthia on Duran after a number of senior divisional officers including the Commanding Officer attempted to bribe officers within the Star League Defense Force Transport Subcommand to return the division to the Rim Worlds Republic. The 428th had been ordered to withdraw from the Republic along with the other units of the SLDF Twentieth Army following the ill-advised Birthday Proclamations made by First Lord Richard Cameron II. Lieutenant General Florence Anderson was placed in command of the 428th, following the removal of Major General Donald Sachs from command, while the SLDF Judge Advocate General's office investigated the division.[7]
The Jihad
Duran is a dry desert world whose capital frequently experiences sandstorms that the local militia had learned to use to their advantage when facing bandits or raiders. During the thirty-first century Duran was home to Rastaban Agricultural, a manufacturer that produced IndustrialMechs and, during the Jihad, RetroTech BattleMechs from their facilities on Krebs.[1]
