System Description
The New Hati system is located near the Tortuga Prime and New Gascony systems.[1][2]
System History
The New Hati system was one of five systems to be colonized between the early twenty-seventh century and the early twenty-eighth century. The capital world of the Tortuga Dominions, Tortuga Prime, was colonized by the remains of the 237th Light Cavalry Regiment in the closing stages of the Reunification War, the 237th being an Armed Forces of the Federated Suns regiment that took heavy damage in a wasteful military operation against Sterope, leading to the survivors deserting the Federated Suns. A generation after settling Tortuga Prime, the settlers embraced a new identity, the Pirates of Tortuga, and conducted pirate raids against the Federated Suns to seize equipment and machinery to expand their initial holdings; this worked well enough that within a century, the stable and self-sufficient colony on Tortuga was well-established enough to begin the colonization of other worlds, leading to the settlement of New Hati and four other worlds.[3]

Planetary History
Third Succession War
In September 3007, the Gamma Regiment and Delta Regiment of Wolf's Dragoons conducted a raid into the Tortuga Dominions against the pirate forces on New Hati. Delta Regiment wore the pirate force down while Gamma Regiment flanked the bandits positions. While the pirate forces under the command of Lord Kalvin Bar-Dyness were able to escape, they took serious damage. This resulted in fewer pirate raids into Federated Suns space for several years.[9]
Notes
The New Hati system is also known under its original name, New Haiti, in older publications. At one point in time it was misspelled as New Hati and the misspelling carried through; it is now the official name of the system in all new documents.[22]

- ↑ This was confirmed as canonically true in this thread on the official CBT Forums: "It was originally named "New Haiti" (the 1st ed Periphery map has it as "New Haiti"), but somewhere along the way it got typoed to "New Hati", and that name has stuck since it was used on most FASA maps and sourcebooks."
