Planetary History
Succession Wars
Despite being a small, cold and inhospitable world Sigma Mare is rather overpopulated. By the end of the Third Succession War Sigma Mare was known as a center of research for geophysical/terraforming research, something that helped make the planet liveable. Despite numerous leaders from House Liao visiting Sigma Mare over the centuries and extolling the potential the planet had, none actually did anything to help develop the world.[1]
Horse traders established a presence on Sigma Mare by 3025, although in smaller numbers than on the nearby world of Turin. Political intrigues had begun on the planet by this point, but were entirely local in nature; it appeared that politics on a galactic level were of little interest to the local population.[1]
The Jihad
A raiding party consisting of forces from both Andurien and Zion struck at Sigma Mare during the second week of November 3069.[19]
