Continuing their plan of conquest, the SLDF forces used chemical agents to force the population out of the countryside. They joined the refugees from the destroyed cities in refugee camps. Despite the severe damage the TDF received, they continued to fight. The last two battles were particularly horrific, as the Taurians used human wave attacks to get close to the SLDF units and detonate improvised radiological weapons. These desperate attacks forced a few hundred SLDF soldiers into hospitals for treatment, but couldn't stop the conquest. MacLeod's Land was one of the Taurian Concordat's most important systems. It was heavily populated, had a great deal of industry, and also supported a lot of agricultural concerns. It was also one of the first worlds outside the Hyades Cluster to join the Taurian Concordat.[29]
