Overview
The Star League Defense Forces 3rd Army was assigned to operations within the Federated Suns Military Region.[1]
History
The 3rd Army was responsible for the second region of the Federated Suns, with the Army Headquarters located on Sullivan; the 3rd hadn't been as active as some Armies in the run-up to the Periphery Uprising but had taken part in Operation SMOTHER, the SLDF operation that ended the War of Davion Succession, as well as hunting the "bandits" whose raiding formed a large part of the Third Hidden War.[2]
As with many of the other Armies stationed within the Inner Sphere the 3rd Army was deployed into the Periphery in response to the Periphery Uprising, and would lose ten Divisions of troops - more than a third of the 3rd's combat strength - over the couse of the next two years of campaigning within the Taurian Concordat.[2]
