Template:InfoBoxMercUnit The Grey Death Legion is a mercenary company formed by Greyson Death Carlyle. It began as an offshoot of Carlyle's Commandos, a mercenary unit formed by Greyson Death Carlyle's father. During fighting on Trell I, the unit suffered heavy losses and was reformed under Greyson Death Carlyle. Through subsequent actions it reached regimental strength and went on to face the clans and feature prominently in the Lyran Alliance civil war. The Grey Death Legion has also taken credit for the Grey Death Battle Armor and the Grey Death Scout Armor.
While stationed on the planet Helm in the Free Worlds League the unit was caught up in the Byzantine politics of the Successor States. When the unit was declared in default of its contract, local units attempted to surround and destroy the Grey Death Legion. It was during these skirmishes that the Grey Death Legion stumbled on a Star League Defense Force stockpile. Along with BattleMechs and weapons was an intact Star League Library Core.
